Sweden beat Brazil in the Semifinal of Soccer!! It is already the best result a swedish team ever made in the Olympics. We are facing Germany in the Final. We haven't beaten germany in many years but now looks like a good time. And they have absolutely no pressure on them now, they will be heroes whatever the result in the final.

So what do you think about what's happening with Lochte and Feigen?

Timeline of Ryan Lochte's robbery allegation: What happened? | CTV News

At first I thought...well why wasn't it reported to the police? Then I realized why.

It seems Lochte is safely in the US, but in hiding. Feigen, on the other hand, it seems is in hiding in Brazil, but did get out of Athletes Village. Which should actually be the safest place for athletes.

I hope he is in the US Consulate. Or if he's in the Canadian one we can pull another Canadian Caper, and someone can make a movie about the CIA guy saving him. :okay:

On a serious note, I hope he is somewhere safe where he can be safely removed.

Sweden won a bronze in wrestling. First woman to ever win a medal in the olympic wrestling. Almost all the medals have been taken by women. I love it. I think it is just the Golf guy, Stenson, of the gents we sent that got a medal.

This is just getting weirder and weirder. :alien:

On another note... I am so disgusted with NBC's coverage. Here we are watching heats -- qualifying -- when there are a dozen other events' finals we could be watching. Between the commercials. And don't get me started on the announcers. :facepalm_smiley:

Direct TV has a cool option on channel 205 (Not sure if these channel numbers are the same all over). When you tune into channel 205, the screen shows a split screen of all the Olympic events going on on the different channels. You select the one you're interested in and press enter and you go to that channel. The main NBC channel has the traditional type coverage where they try to cover everything and the other NBC channels offering coverage show entire events. I usually end up watching a channel other that the main NBC one for the reason you are irritated with the coverage. Channel 205 is a really good way to get what you want without having to endlessly search all over for it.

Lochte said that after they were robbed, they were not sure whether they were going to report it because of the trouble it would cause (and possibly cause them). They told some friends and family members about it and of course the word spread and the officials came to them asking about it and that's how it got reported. That's why there is a weird time line and I think we can see now why they didn't want to report it.

I just heard a British athlete was robbed last night.

Just keeps getting stranger and stranger regarding the Lochte and other swimmers. My question is why would he lie?

I don't think he lied, I think that the swimmers didn't want to report it because of the possibility of the real police being involved in the robbery. When he told his friends and family about it, it got in the news and then they had to report it. The delay gives the local officials an opportunity to pass this off as if it didn't happen.

Just my own theory.

He said he was robbed by someone in a police uniform and the person flashed a badge. (I don't follow him on Twitter or Instagram so I did not actually see exactly what he wrote, but my understanding is he seemed to think it was not a real officer, just someone with a costume/uniform.)

The Brazilian government seems to think they made this up to make the Brazilian government look bad. (Whether because they feel he is accusing the police of robbing him or because he is accusing the police/security of not protecting athletes, I'm not sure.)

I saw a story on the news before the Olympics started about robberies in Rio by criminals posing as police with badges and proper uniforms. It was implied that these groups were allowed to thrive by cutting in the real police on the profits.

Looks like my theory is developing some holes. ;-D
