Carl can get eaten anytime now.

They kept Carl, but got rid of Glen? WTH? What. the. hell.

I think Carl is vital because he is the face (on the show) of growing up in this world. Yeah, he can be irritating because he's a teenager (and that's what teenagers do) but I've always thought that his character is the most elastic because of his age. So as he gets older, he can stay good or turn bad and be believable either way. I think they can still do a lot with Carl whereas some of the other characters are getting to the end of their run. That being said, I'm a little worried about him and his current mission. I always thought he was one of the irreplaceables but I'm not so sure now.

I see what you are saying, and it makes sense. The actor playing Carl irritates me beyond words. I wish Carl was played by someone else, but since it's this kid, he can go. There have to be other teenagers out there we can follow. ha!

Someone needs to tell Carl that there's no eye in team.

I think he is irreplaceable as the story has been constructed up to this point. However
Chandler Riggs has been accepted at Auburn, so they might kill him off. Which will betray a central tenet of the show (that Rick's fate is tied to his kid's--since the first episode, Carl's well-being has been first and foremost in Rick's mind). And I will be pissed, because it doesn't work from a narrative perspective.
*sigh*

I hope Carl can find a way to go to college and be on the show. I think most of the filming is done during the summer so that may help.

It might. They just got done filming the second half of season 7, though, which would put
him pretty deep into the term next year. I think his age is a huge issue. He was 10 when they started, 17 now, playing 13. Working with kid actors sucks.

I am know I am in the minority here...but I like Carl. Yes, he might not be the most inspiring actor...but he has became for me an intricate part of the TWD. I agree if there was an exchange -I would take Glenn for Carl. :)

I like Carl too. I think Chandler has always done a terrific job when he's been given tough situations like the scenes with the death of his mother. I think that his role on the show may be shaped by his school attendance and in some episodes, he doesn't do much. He has periods where his character is very involved and periods where he seems to disappear.

They can film around his schedule if they want to. Personally, I hope they want to.

I liked this episode quite a bit. They're doing more with character again--reminds me of season 4. Did anyone else think that
the first walker through the gate looked like it was wearing a skin mask over it's face? I have to watch again to be sure, but I'm intrigued and a little surprised to see that already

I can take or leave Carl, but I do think the character as written is integral to the storyline.
their flirtation did make me a little misty--I'm becoming a softy in my old age. The rollerblades were dumb ("Hey! Let's get on things that make us unstable!"), but maybe fitting for kids. Finding two pair together seems overly fortuitous, but meh. It's a story.

Intriguing moments:
It will be interesting to see what happens in Hilltop, and how leadership shakes out. Gregory is a snake. Michonne and the big wet kiss: well played. Remind him he's a man (not naturally a mouse) without saying a word. We got to see Jesus in full karate action--in the comics, he uses a katana like Michonne's. I wonder if that will show up on the TV show?

One of the best things about this show is the casting. Aside from the Alexandrians (interchangeable LEGO figures), the various characters from Rick down to Ezekiel and Negan's right hand men are interesting. Even bit parts (aside from the Alexandrians--lol) seem to be very thoughtful choices. No throwaways (aside from the Alexandrians :D).

Yes to your first question as the camera angle showed it very clearly, I thought. And it made me wonder, why?
