What a beautiful sentiment. Made me cry.3. If you could kiss anyone who would it be?
My great grandma, on the cheek. I miss her.
Oh, don't cry! She was the quintessential grandma: round and soft like bread dough, always smiling. She had a huge garden, and baked all the time--she had a special set of small-sized bread pans, pie tins, etc. just for me (first great-grandchild--lol). Her house (and my great-grandpa's, of course) was my favorite place in all the world. Never felt safer or more comfortable than when I drifted off to sleep, grandma leaning over to hold my hand, on my little pallet next to their big old bed. I miss them both, actually. What a beautiful sentiment. Made me cry.
Nothing like a grandparent's love. Sounds as if you had a charmed childhood, having your great-grandparents in your life.Oh, don't cry! Very well written, Dana. You should write a blog or try writing short stories. Great memories.Nothing like a grandparent's love. Sounds as if you had a charmed childhood, having your great-grandparents in your life.
I miss my grandparents too. My Poppy always had a pack of Juicy Fruit gum when I'd see him. My Nanny made the best fried corn--she'd chop it off the cob, add stuff to it and fry it up in a skillet. OMG, so delicious.
Granny had a rock collection, and she'd tell me where each one came from, the type it was and how it was made--I think that's a big part of why my rocks and minerals unit I teach is my favorite. Granddad took us to an old Dairy Queen in Naples, Florida, and bought me a butterscotch sundae each day I was there. He had the saw off a sawfish hanging in his office, and I was mesmerized by it. Just all the love...I miss it too.
Believe me, I've tried at writing! Have trouble finishing...Very well written, Dana. You should write a blog or try writing short stories. Great memories.
I was thinking of this when I read your post... you totally won, all by yourself!!!Okay, wait a minute. I just remembered. I did win a contest over on Meg Gardiner's site to be a character in one of her books. I forgot and that's huge!
