I do, too :) They make me think of Little Women, and I love that book and the June Allyson movie beyond reason. My girls were waitstaff for a friend's daughter's Renaissance themed wedding & they both wore snoods with their costumes (I snitched one directly afterward--lol)

...you snitched a snood?....sounds like a Seuss book...:biggrin2:

 That's exactly what I though when I read her post! ;-D

... and now:

Ski-Mom Snitches a Snood :p

Can we get a book printed up for this?

1. Have you used a website such as ancestor.com? If not, why not; and if you have what interesting things did you discover (discretion is advised)?
From what I've been told by my relatives, most of my ancestors were moonshiners and outlaws, that's pretty much all I needed to know.

2. Does proper grammar matter to you? Please explain why it does or doesn’t.
I ain't got much use for book learnin'.:)

3. Does the idea of meeting a favorite celebrity make you feel anxious? If so, why do you think it does? If not, why not?
I've only met Mr. King and the three members of ZZ Top. All four of them were exceptionally polite and cordial, especially Mr. King. Hell yes I was anxious to meet Mr. King, but when your lifelong idol throws his arm around your neck and thanks YOU for being a constant reader it makes you smile and remember that not all people are bad people.

4. Do you fear the unknown?
I'm constantly checking my six and trying to figure out what's around the next corner. I don't fear the unknown because I'm too busy planning for every eventuality.

5. Do you have animals (not including hubbies and significant others)? If so, what and how many? (Names are optional.)
One very smart dog, Bailey, she is wonderful and is the fourth member of our small family. Three delta tailed guppy fish, Huey, Dewey and Louie, and two albino Cory Catfish, Beavis and Butthead.

6. Do you tend to put others before yourself? If so, why do you?
I put my co-workers above myself at all costs, we all look out for each other. I trust the guys and girls I work with more than anyone else in the world. The people I work with are top notch in all respects.

7. Do you believe that animals have abilities which humans don’t? If so, what are those abilities?
Definitely, they see and sense things that humans aren't able to either because of sharpened senses or maybe they just pay better attention than humans do.

8. Do you like scented candles? If so, which fragrances?
I'm going to get hammered for this, but, yes, I very much like candles. I used to have one on my desk at work until someone put a pair of panties over the candle one day while I was out of my cubicle and left a tube of lipstick on my desk. I have since taken the candle off my desk.....Vanilla scented candles are my favorite.

9. Do you believe in the Golden Rule (a rule of ethical conduct referring to Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31: do to others as you would have them do to you)? If not, why not?
I understand the rule, but there's nothing biblical about why I treat others as I wish to be treated.

10. Do you tend to diagnose yourself (do you think you might be OCD, etc)?[/QUOTE]
Oh yeah, I'm most definitely OCD, down to checking the door locks a few times a day, parking in the same place at work, I've been that way for years. My wife tolerates it and actually says it benefits her, she doesn't have to wash dishes or do laundry, it's all part of my never ending circular routine. Or maybe I'm just old and don't like surprises. Probably a bit of both.

1. Have you used a website such as ancestor.com? If not, why not; and if you have what interesting things did you discover (discretion is advised)? No - I leave that to my crazy hillbilly relatives - a couple have traced us all the way back to Pocahontas and have shown me the pictures to prove it - le sigh - if only. The Ogre says my family tree doesn't have very many limbs, and that I have a gene puddle. Hardy-har, that Ogre is funny.

2. Does proper grammar matter to you? Please explain why it does or doesn’t. If it's a repetitive thing - like if I've told you the word is "this" not "that" but you keep on saying it wrong to tick me off, it matters. Using those "new" words matters more to me. I won't say them because some people do use them, but argh - they annoy the hell out of me. I bet you know then ones I'm talking about.

3. Does the idea of meeting a favorite celebrity make you feel anxious? If so, why do you think it does? If not, why not?
Nah - I can't think of a celebrity that I like so much, that I'd be anxious upon meeting them. I'm not much of a fangirl (oh no, I think that's one of those words!). Let's say I happened to run into Sai King somewhere, and no one noticed it was him, so I could have a private moment without calling attention to him. I'd have to just get close enough to say - "Your amazing talent with words saved my sanity more than once. We're blessed to have you among us." I feel nearly the same way about Alan Rickman's voice and sex appeal. And Woody Harrelson with his handsome charisma oozing everywhere.

4. Do you fear the unknown? Hmmm, it's a habit of mine to take an unknown and create the absolute worst case scenario in my head so I'll kind of be prepared. And then when it happens, I clearly loose my marbles and turn to mush. So, no - I don't fear the unknown, I just am not sure I can handle it.

5. Do you have animals (not including hubbies and significant others)? If so, what and how many? (Names are optional.) We have dogs - Trixie, the elderly diabetic miniature wire haired Dalmatian ( I made that up - but that's what she looks like), and Ruby June ( a 2 year old boxer/black lab mix ), RubyJune drives me crazy. I'm thinking about getting her a Thundershirt. She's a spaz.

6. Do you tend to put others before yourself? If so, why do you? Yes - always. I'm just giving like that. So long as I've had a good night's sleep and coffee first thing, I'm up for grabs.

7. Do you believe that animals have abilities which humans don’t? If so, what are those abilities? Yes, I think they can read our moods like we can read words. I think they can smell when someone is dying. I think they know things we can't and it sucks that they can't tell us. Though I do think they try.

8. Do you like scented candles? If so, which fragrances? I kind of like a subtle scented candle - the fragrance doesn't have a name. It's kind of lemony. My daughter got it for me last year for Christmas. It was the exact scent of one I had years ago that I loved but had never been able to find it again. She found it.

9. Do you believe in the Golden Rule (a rule of ethical conduct referring to Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31: do to others as you would have them do to you)? If not, why not? I believe we have a responsibility to be kind and take care of each other - to love each other, really, "what you do to the least of my brothers....".

10. Do you tend to diagnose yourself (do you think you might be OCD, etc)? All the time. I'm the girl taking her blood pressure at Kroger every time I go, trying to figure out if I just overdid it at the gym, or if I'm about to have a stroke.

1. Have you used a website such as ancestor.com? If not, why not; and if you have what interesting things did you discover (discretion is advised)? No. I won't pay for it. Plus I'm not a fan of too much web connectivity. This is literally the only site I'm a member or contributer of since 2009 or so.

2. Does proper grammar matter to you? Please explain why it does or doesn’t. In my writing, yes. In others, no (except journalism. Drives me nuts when they get things wrong. For instance, I once saw an editorial, by the EDITOR, that used the term pre-Madonna, for prima donna. Seriously.).

3. Does the idea of meeting a favorite celebrity make you feel anxious? If so, why do you think it does? If not, why not? No. I've met many. They're just people. There are some that I could easily be good friends with (I have a talent for friendship and I'm very closemouthed about my friends: part of the lawyer in me too, to keep my mouth shut), but since I don't push it because I know they'd see me as a fan-freak, it rarely happens. Though it has with a couple, who shall, of course, remain nameless.

4. Do you fear the unknown? No.

5. Do you have animals (not including hubbies and significant others)? If so, what and how many? (Names are optional.) A dog and two cats. And a fish.

6. Do you tend to put others before yourself? If so, why do you? It depends. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don't. But I decide when and how because otherwise it doesn't seem real to me. As if it were an obligation and that's no good.

7. Do you believe that animals have abilities which humans don’t? If so, what are those abilities? Other than the obvious physical ones, no.

8. Do you like scented candles? If so, which fragrances? Never thought about it.

9. Do you believe in the Golden Rule (a rule of ethical conduct referring to Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31: do to others as you would have them do to you)? If not, why not? Yes. Of course. I'm a Biblical fundamentalist and that prescription is one binding on me. As is one found later in the New Testament, "As ye therefore have occasion, do good unto all men..."

10. Do you tend to diagnose yourself (do you think you might be OCD, etc)? I analyze myself all the time, trying to identify my flaws and failures and strengths, etc. (A man's got to know his limitations), but I don't diagnose. I'm not much of a believer in psychiatric accuracy.

Also, in response to this, I'm a firm believer in the Frasier view of ancestry: "We're descended from thieves and whores." Aren't we all? I believe we are.

If they ever call the human resources manager into our division, we're all screwed. Most of the conversations topics we discuss throughout the day would be enough to get most of us suspended. You would think the two ladies that work in our division would even things out a bit, but they are the ones that usually make all of us blush..lol. Our Captain had declared all of us crazy and just doesn't come around unless he has to for fear of hearing a conversation he might have to give a deposition on later...lol

My office is small. Me, one full-time secretary who is a marvel at her job (and who I've known since we were kids). But my real interaction is with the other lawyers and judges. You've got to know your audience. In my case, my faith and politics make some people cautious around me. Which my friends find funny. I'm opinionated (who, honestly, isn't), but I'm also a real, true believer in freedom of conscience, so I don't get upset at other's beliefs. I do get upset if they try to quiet mine or attack me.

My wife was once shouted at by a lady in a grocery store in Massachusetts for having too many children (we had 5 at the time and she was grocery shopping while I was at work). And I was once chastised on the street for handing out tracts before street preaching with one of my kids (the lady told me I was committing child abuse; I'd read Sister Carrie and An American Tragedy so I knew to what she was referring). I didn't argue. Didn't seem to be any value in it. Actually, other than for hire as a lawyer, I rarely argue.

1. Have you used a website such as ancestor.com? If not, why not; and if you have what interesting things did you discover (discretion is advised)? a little bit. My cousin did a big search of our family at one time.

2. Does proper grammar matter to you? Please explain why it does or doesn’t.It does matter, but I fail miserably too often.

3. Does the idea of meeting a favorite celebrity make you feel anxious? If so, why do you think it does? If not, why not? Yes, extremely. I don't want them to see me as some crazed fan, so I don't want to put them in "celebrity" mode.

4. Do you fear the unknown? Depends.

5. Do you have animals (not including hubbies and significant others)? If so, what and how many? (Names are optional.) 2 cats. Jackson and Chaplin

6. Do you tend to put others before yourself? If so, why do you? Yes. Maybe subconsciously I don't feel I deserve to focus on myself.

7. Do you believe that animals have abilities which humans don’t? If so, what are those abilities? Yes. I think they are very intuitive with their senses. That's why they predict weather, and whether someone is going to have a seizure, things like that.

8. Do you like scented candles? If so, which fragrances? Sometimes. I like autumn smells, pumpkin, cinnamon , eucalyptus.

9. Do you believe in the Golden Rule (a rule of ethical conduct referring to Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31: do to others as you would have them do to you)? If not, why not? absolutely. This is how I live my life as best as I can.

10. Do you tend to diagnose yourself (do you think you might be OCD, etc)? Oh, I diagnose myself all the time with things. The internet can be a great thing, and also a very bad thing.

1. Have you used a website such as ancestor.com? If not, why not; and if you have what interesting things did you discover (discretion is advised)?

No. And why not: Because I don't care. I don't take pride or blame for whatever they did.

2. Does proper grammar matter to you? Please explain why it does or doesn’t.

Yes, for clarity and precision of communication.

3. Does the idea of meeting a favorite celebrity make you feel anxious? If so, why do you think it does? If not, why not?

It would depend on the celebrity, but basically no. They're my entertainment life, not my real life; and I doubt that our interaction would be memorable to them for more than five minutes after we parted.

If I'm to be really honest, there might be a couple actresses I'd be star-struck with, but I hope not.

4. Do you fear the unknown?

No, I want to turn it into the known.

5. Do you have animals (not including hubbies and significant others)? If so, what and how many? (Names are optional.)

Yes, a good old dog. When she dies, we'll get another. I've also had rodents, reptiles, felines, and gilled critters.

6. Do you tend to put others before yourself? If so, why do you?

Yes. Because I'm constantly seeking affirmation and acceptance.

7. Do you believe that animals have abilities which humans don’t? If so, what are those abilities?

Yes. I wish I had a dog's sense of smell and hearing. The only superpower I can figure out for cats is the power of indifference.

8. Do you like scented candles? If so, which fragrances?

In theory, but I never think to light them.

9. Do you believe in the Golden Rule (a rule of ethical conduct referring to Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31: do to others as you would have them do to you)? If not, why not?

I think it's a good foundation for human behavior and is found in many other places than Matthew and Luke.

10. Do you tend to diagnose yourself (do you think you might be OCD, etc)?

Yes, and I'm often wrong, but that doesn't deter me. And if you say no, you shouldn't have answered No. 6.
