Packing. Moving a King size bed frame and kitchen table/chairs with ex-husband.

I am still on the lookout for a curse to put on the bed.
I am open to all suggestions.

If you give me a moment or two I'll have some chicken bones to give you to help with that curse. You'll have to have Sunny help you with the rest of the items though......

One of the guests at our Memorial Day picnic is an old fighter pilot that flew the North American F-86 Sabre, the North American F-100 Super Sabre, the Convair F-106 Delta Dart, and the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter. He developed and pioneered some of the early jet fighter tactics, some of which are still used today. He tells of stories of things he did that the jets he flew that were never thought to be capable of, and how he was always in trouble with his superiors for being a renegade and daredevil. He’s too old to fly these days but still is active with the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum. He said a number of his friends are starting to come in this weekend for the WWII Weekend Gathering of Warbirds next week that is held at a local airport. He said if time allows some of his friends might do a low level fly-over of our house with some of these WWII planes, when they do fly-overs at some local Memorial Day Services. That would be cool.

Our oldest just turned 21 this week so we are taking her out for a fancy dinner at a seafood place that sits overlooking the Bay. After we are going to take her over to the Hard Rock casino for some black jack. We then bought her a VIP pass to some clubs in Ybor City for her and her friends along with a pre-scheduled Uber to take them all home safely. Tomorrow I have to fix a leaking gutter over our patio/pool area and then change out the pool light with one of those nifty new LED lights that change colors and do light shows ans such. Apparently it can communicate via bluetooth with an iPod to sync the lights to the music. Also lawn work tomorrow. Ugh, it's hot down here now. Sunday the neighborhood is having a get together at the retired Army Colonel's house down 2 doors from us. We might also take the kiddos to see a movie. Monday, we are going canoeing at Juniper Springs. The wife and I also took Tuesday off. We are thinking about going to Busch Gardens for the day since the kids will be in school. Maybe I will take a nap instead.

You'll need that nap! That sounds like a great holiday weekend.

My oldest turned 21 in January :) He's been a pretty good kid--no worries, except that The Man can't get used to the occasional beer going missing and not worrying about it :). DD#1 told me yesterday that when she turns 21 (she's 18) she wants the two of us to go on a road trip to see all the bands that play clubs she can't get into now--haha! That's MY girl :)

..we will have a small gathering at the Giant's Den on Sunday...I will get to scarf down a burger when I get home from the gray bar hotel....I know that Memorial Day is viewed by so many as just a long weekend, the kick-off to Summer and a chance to party hearty.....but I want to remind those who may not recall, if it weren't for those selfless thousands of men and women who put payed to the ultimate bill, there would be no day for memorials....it's not "shotgun a beer" Day, it is Memorial Day, 24 hours to honor and remember those who sleep the sleep of heroes on their stone biers...to my regret, I never served in the military...but my Uncle was an Intel Specialist in Vietnam, my Grandfather saved lives as an Army Surgeon in WW2 and my dad was a Leatherneck for a short time in WW2....now, I am the very proud father of a young man who is trying to make a life in the US Army as an MP...THESE people are MY heroes and their brothers and sisters in uniform, NOT a celebrity, or ball player or some other sumbitch who's done nothing but fleece our pockets in the name of entertainment...all hail the soldier, and may the White hold them safe as they watch out for us...so we CAN squirt ketchup on our new shorts....

I was considering this.

Curtain Rods - Priceless
She spent the first day packing her belongings into boxes, crates and suitcases.
On the second day, she had the movers come and collect her things.
On the third day, she sat down for the last time at their beautiful dining room table by candle-light, put on some soft background music, and feasted on a pound of shrimp, a jar of caviar, and a bottle of spring-water.
When she had finished, she went into each and every room and deposited a few half-eaten shrimp shells dipped in caviar into the hollow of the curtain rods.
She then cleaned up the kitchen and left. When the husband returned with his new girlfriend, all was bliss for the first few days.
Then slowly, the house began to smell.
They tried everything; cleaning, mopping and airing the place out.
Vents were checked for dead rodents and carpets were steam cleaned.
Air fresheners were hung everywhere. Exterminators were brought in to set off gas canisters, during which they had to move out for a few days and in the end they even paid to replace the expensive wool carpeting. Nothing worked.
People stopped coming over to visit.
Repairmen refused to work in the house.
The maid quit.
Finally, they could not take the stench any longer and decided to move.
A month later, even though they had cut their price in half, they could not find a buyer for their stinky house.
Word got out and eventually even the local realtors refused to return their calls.
Finally, they had to borrow a huge sum of money from the bank to purchase a new place.

The ex-wife called the man and asked how things were going.

He told her the saga of the rotting house. She listened politely and said that she missed her old home terribly and would be willing to reduce her divorce settlement in exchange for getting the house back.
Knowing his ex-wife had no idea how bad the smell was, he agreed on a price that was about 1/10th of what the house had been worth, but only if she were to sign the papers that very day.
She agreed and within the hour his lawyers delivered the paperwork.
A week later the man and his girlfriend stood smiling as they watched the moving company pack everything to take to their new home.........
And to spite the ex-wife, they even took the the curtain rods!!!!!!
I LOVE A HAPPY ENDING, DON'T YOU?

Will do. He has many great stories. One is of him being sent to a special combat flight school (I guess a precursor to Air Force’s version of Top Gun). The very first combat training mission of his had his commander playing the part of the enemy. Warren goes into great detail of his maneuvers (which included “sliding” the jet) and how he got in position and “shot him down.” It was the first time the commander was “shot down,” and it was done by a rookie. The commander immediately ordered everyone to land back to base, he got out of his jet and left the base without saying a word to anyone. Warren’s fellow pilots told him he was nuts for taking out the commander on his first mission because the guy was a SOB. No one saw the commander for 3 days. And when he did return my friend said the commander made his life a living hell for the rest of his time there. He said it was so bad that when the Air Force talked to him about re-upping, and asked him what he wanted out of the Air Force, he answered “The only thing I want out of the Air Force is out!”

You made me think of poppies and the significance on Memorial day.

Remembrance poppy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Origins
The use of the poppy was inspired by the World War I poem "In Flanders Fields". Its opening lines refer to the many poppies that were the first flowers to grow in the churned-up earth of soldiers' graves in Flanders, a region of Europe that overlies a part of Belgium.[3] The poem was written by Canadian physician and Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae on 3 May 1915 after witnessing the death of his friend, a fellow soldier, the day before. The poem was first published on 8 December 1915 in the London-based magazine Punch.

In 1918, Moina Michael, who had taken leave from her professorship at the University of Georgia to be a volunteer worker for the American YWCA, was inspired by the poem and published a poem of her own called "We Shall Keep the Faith".[4] In tribute to McCrae's poem, she vowed to always wear a red rememberance poppy as a symbol of remembrance for those who fought and helped in the war.[3] At a November 1918 YWCA Overseas War Secretaries' conference, she appeared with a silk poppy pinned to her coat and distributed 25 more to those attending. She then campaigned to have the poppy adopted as a national symbol of remembrance. At a conference in 1920, the National American Legion adopted it as their official symbol of remembrance.[3] At this conference, French-woman Anna E. Guérin was inspired to introduce the artificial poppies commonly used today. In 1921 she sent her poppy sellers to London, where they were adopted by Field Marshal Douglas Haig, a founder of the Royal British Legion. It was also adopted by veterans' groups in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.[3]

Memorial Day is the 25th? We are just finishing up our long weekend up here - that is the weekend most people go camping, open up the cabin or cottage etc.

How about you? Do you have any plans Siggy?

Hey, Neesy!

I think I'm just going to lay low. Maybe go to the family home and throw a munch. Watch some movies and hang with my best friend.

Have a great weekend Neesy. Hugs.
