I loved Talisman and Black House :)
Roll on book 3!!

I've read quite a bit of fantasy adventure and sci-fi over the years. I'm really enjoying The Talisman. I read it more than 2 decades ago but have largely forgotten it so it's like reading it new (same will be true of Eyes of the Dragon). But I had bought Black House before I knew it was a sequel to Talisman. Once I knew that, I went back and got Talisman so I could read it again, then follow with Black House. It's fascinating to see the creativity in it.

Yup I can relate to this 110%

See I first read Talisman around about 18 years ago too, it was my Grandmother's paperback copy and I loved it.
Fast forward a few years and I saw the Black House paperback in a book shop and picked it up. I had no idea it was the sequel to Talisman at all, I didn't read the blurb (it's King, that was all I needed to know:a11:). For whatever reason I never actually got around to reading it. I have moved house 3 or 4 times in those intervening years and that very same pristine, unread paperback has moved with me each time. Last year I finally made a point of rereading Talisman (which I still loved, and I also found it was like reading a new book due to me forgetting a lot of the story) and followed it directly with Black House.

I think I might be in the minority here, but after the slow start to the book, Black House became so so good. To the point that I personally rate it higher than Talisman. I loved it, the characters, the plot...even the weird Attenborough documentary style narrative at the beginning....

I remember putting the book down when I had finished it and thinking (out loud too probably) "Why the hell have I waited the best part of 14 or so years to read this??!!" ;-D

Anyways, long story short : I waited seemingly forever to read Black House, it was totally worth it, I'm an idiot for not reading it sooner lol

We are New Zealander's, but definitely came under the British umbrella, especially back then. :)

Edit: My Grandee got into some (big) trouble in Canada after a night of drink... it involved a plane, some mates and a bridge.
It sounds like he showed the Royal Canadian Air Force how to have a good time! (Party down Kiwi style) :kiwi-fruit::m_chacha::kiwi-fruit:

The woods are lovely dark and deep
Greg Iles continues the electrifying story begun in his smash New York Times bestseller Natchez Burning in this highly anticipated second installment of an epic trilogy of blood and race, family and justice, featuring Southern lawyer Penn Cage.

The Bone Tree will be released April 15, 2015. :m_excited::m_excited::m_excited: Maybe I will live long enough to read the whole trilogy!!!!!!

The bad seed by William march.

Just finished it.

I cannot recommend this enough. An amazing novel that will most likely resonate with every SK fan here on this board. I believe this novel to be the prelude to what Stephen and other american authors would do with the horror/psychological thriller genre. Although from the early 50's, the story William March tells ( he died shortly after its publication) is of contemporary tone. It's almost counter culture ion a way, way before the hippie explosion in the 60's.

One of the best books I'll read this year, for sure.

I've started They Thirst by Robert McCammon. Are about 250 pages in. A good vampirestory. They have come to Los Angelas. The city of dreams are suddenly turning into the city of nightmares. So far i like and it makes me want to read more of the author. The only complaint i have about this book is that it is not as good as Salem's Lot. But that is a rather unfair comparison to make i think. Other than Salem's lot it is one of the best vampirestories i've read.

I'm a little over halfway through Revival and have enjoyed it so far.

I'm interested in reading some Richard Laymon, so if anyone would like to recommend a couple of his books, I'd be very grateful.

Flat Matt I think he's pretty good . . .but a bit nasty at times with the sex stuff. My favorite by him is Night in Lonesome October.

I picked it up today after a week or so (I'm also reading four other books - never again!). I was only on about page 30 or so - now I'm on page 75. It started out good, but holy WOW, in the last 45 pages it has become CRAZY good!!! I think the other books will be put on hold until I finish this one (probably over the weekend). Do you think I should read Swan Song, They Thirst, or Mine after this? :)

Swan Song is good . . .but remember it is from back in the day and it may feel a little slow. I loved it a lot, it was hard for me to put down.

They Thirst is good but not my favorite.

I REALLY LOVED, Mine!!!!!!!!! That one kept me on the edge of screaming!!!!

Go ahead and finish Boy's Life . . .it's damn good! I really loved that book!

I'll check back with you in a few days . . .
