Just finished the last book in the Wayward Pines trilogy...really enjoyed them. I had put The Clan of the Cave Bear aside to read the Wayward books, so I'll pick up where I left off there. Also reading Christopher Hitchens's God Is Not Great--eye-opening and intelligent reading.

I somehow got "Finders Keepers" today and I got to read the first 50 pages. Not liking it at all. Bland, insipid, generic prose and writing from King. Mr. Mercedes was way better. I sincerely hope this is not the beggining of King's demise.

I hope I don't offend King fans with this comment. Just my two cents, for the ones who desire to read them.

Keep reading. 50 pages isn't much to judge the entire book on. I admit I liked Mr. Mercedes better when I first started reading it but once I got into Finders Keepers, it was an enjoyable read as well.

Not offensive at all. Post your thoughts when you finish the book.

No one is going to like everything, especially from a writer as diverse as Mr. King. I enjoy hearing your views, even when I don't agree :)

I respect your opinion and of course we all have our likes and dislikes, but how can you possibly read 50 pages of one book and ponder whether this is "the beginning of his demise"? A bit severe, no?

I just got my copy and am planning on starting tonight. Should I start at page 51? ;-D

Looks like a little more blood on the cover than Mr Mercedes. I'll take that as a good sign.
I know you were only joking, but I really don't get what Mr. Larry Underwood was saying. The opening chapter is King at his best.

I don't want to jump the gun, but unless this book starts seriously sucking in the next 300+ pages, it's up there with 11/22/63 and Revival for me.
