Very pleased to be wrong about The Bed Moved! Once again, the book jacket and other publicity wildly misrepresented the scope and tone of the book. The writer is clever, articulate, and tender. I didn't find the book "audacious, savagely funny" (from the book jacket) as much as wry and vulnerable. I'm looking forward to reading more from Schiff as she matures as a writer. Definitely worth reading, if you like small stories about normal people and how we behave!

Oooooo! Me likee that cover big time.

Fantastic book. Told in simple language but my god the big concepts in the white space between the lines!

Fragile Things (Gaiman) is $1.99 on a variety of sites today only, if anyone is interested :)

I started the Jude Devereaux book for review last night. Not due for a couple of weeks, but it never hurts to get a bit ahead. So far, not my cup of tea, but I imagine it's peachy for her fans and lovers of all things romance. More nudey at the beginning than I usually see in genre titles by traditional romance authors--that's different. :)

Finished Ocean At The End of The Lane by Neil Gaiman last night. Gave it 5 stars on my Booklikes-- thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm starting John Irving's In One Person today. I just read Owen Meany, and I don't typically read books by the same author within such a short time span (I like to mix it up), but this one is calling to me. :)

What am I reading. Uhhhhhh....oh yeah, that Mailer thing about the pentagon March, derrrr....The Armies of the Night. Dunno how much I can take of it. Massive drunken ego dips his toe in protest movement, sneers at everybody, urinates all over restroom floor because his drunk arse can't find the light switch, then announces it to everyone during a speech. Whines about everything. Does one night in jail and it's like a shawshank story. Gets Pulitzer for this? Man, those were the days!

Cat sure can turn a sentence, though.

I tried reading The Executioner's Song and some others. I wasn't able to get very far. Should I try a different book? Mailer never did it for me. Then again, you may not trust my judgement because I love Saul Bellow.

I don't know what to make of the guy. Haven't read much, but what I have is...unnecessarily dense? Like, he tries too hard to make it hard to read. Like Ancient Evenings. That's about all I've tried, though.
