There is the regular ending where they sail off for an island off of Ireland and then there is another ending buried in the "Credits" in which one is lead to believe they make it to the island inhabited by others who can control the dragonscale.

Thank you :biglove:

I finished Blackwater yesterday and I remember the ending lol but I have a question regarding it.
What do you think Billy saw in the window as he and Zaddie rowed away from the house?

Started a reread of Lisey's Story a few days ago. About halfway through and really enjoying it. Started End of Watch last weekend and had to quit after discovering Hodges's
MAJOR health issue. Just couldn't keep reading right now - made me way too sad.
I'm going to try and get a bundle of Finders Keepers and EOW on Amazon. Dang, there are too many books I want to read. The last and only Joe Hill book I read was Heart-Shaped Box. I couldn't believe how scary it was.

It was so hard, with my dad and all. But I finished it. Keep with it when you can.

Have you read Mr. Mercedes? Just finished The Fireman, but Heart-Shaped Box remains my favorite Hill book. :)

Yes, I read it in hardcover as soon as it came out. My money's been funny as my coworker used to say. This older black woman, she'd say "My money funny right now, I can't afford to eat out for lunch everyday." I'd usually bring her Subway or a pizza slice from Pizza Hut. I hate to eat in front of people when they're pressed for cash, lol. But I digress.

I'm reading Blackwater by McDowell. I didn't think Blackwater could possibly be as good as The Elementals but I like it just as well :) I really like the atmosphere of Southern Gothic. I didn't know there was such a genre as Southern Gothic until I googled around because I kept wondering why I felt like I was reading while sitting on a swing on Scout's front porch on a hot muggy evening, when actually I was sitting in a lazy boy recliner in an air-conditioned family room lol.

Warning: the matriarch in Blackwater makes Violet Crawley seem as harmless as June Cleaver. She's a great character :)

Dying to read these now - there's been lots of talk here about them. The Elementals first, I think, but it really depends on which one I find this weekend. I'm on a mission.

Thank you ma'am. Bad ankle from an injury back in 1999. One who knows his ankle is weak should not step off the carport at a full stride walk onto the grass while taking the trash out AND...while wearing house slippers that offer no ankle support whatsoever. One should also remember his age while doing so and that he doesn't heal as fast as he once did. I'm such an idiot sometimes I need charts and graphs to demonstrate it. At first I thought someone had shot me because the "POP" sound was loud enough to qualify as a small caliber rifle shot...lol, but then I just realized it was my ankle turning over....final score was two fractures on the left side of my ankle. My son was very supportive and only laughed intermittently while I was picking out a cane to help me walk around for a few weeks while it heals..lol
Yikes, friend! Healing vibes to you!

I kinda know her life . . .
I will not like that post, but I would like to give you a hug (((MM))) You are quite fetching with your new green curves!

I'm not in a slump but my time to read is in the evening and I can't stay awake past 9:00 if I'm reading. This getting old crap is really frustrating. ;-D
Uyuh! Look at me, up at 10:17!! Here in a minute I'll stop making sense and start misspelling and have to scoot on up the stairs and drag my weary bones to bed. I used to do my finest reading in the wee hours but those days have passed.

Started NOS4A2 by Hill. It has been in my TBR pile for quite some time but something else always got in the way. Saving The Fireman for the flight and vacation. Finished a huge book on Native Americans (about 700 pages in pocket). though i have read similar books before it was a good one. Sad story but well told. Managed to jump between different tribes and areas without losing context.

Still reading Gaiman's The View From The Cheap Seats, but I can only read a few essays (this is all non fiction--transcriptions of lectures, speeches, or articles he's written over the years) at a time. He keeps making me tear up--lol. This is one I think I'll have to buy (vs. library check out, which I have now) and keep to savor.

I started a book called DUST--zombie novel, from the zombie's perspective. It's okay so far--pretty graphic about the decay. I started it yesterday at lunch and had to put it away after three mentions of maggots and squishy flesh :p. The story is getting interesting, though. I'm saving EoW until after the 12th of this month--I have a review due then, but not another until the very end of the month, so I have time to relax and enjoy :)

I am also reading The View From The Cheap Seats. I like reading the nonfiction voice of an author I love.

Can't read nobody lately, just myself. Locked into a hard, focused, intense period of creativity lately. Rocking like Jimi, like Keith Moon or something. Step back, give a man some room. Got the spirit of God about me right now. What God? You take yer pick, sonny Jim. Just step back, give a man some room.

Anybody like walkin corpse stories? Not zombies, per se...not walkin dead, but freshly crawled up from under vengeful corpses, like Nathan Grantham style if ye ken, dropping bits of flesh and earth, shambling...question mark?

I like stories like that. I think you will, too. Just wait...wait...

Gunslingin, quick on the draw--Blam! Put a new part in yer hair, pilgrim. Step back.

Ya'all don't even know...

Got a heady hat-trick - Hey I'm Canadian - going on.

Reading:

Planet Song by writer friend - T.K. Boomer

Freedom of the Mask by Robert McCammon - book 6 in the Matthew Corbett series

Disappearance at Devil's Rock by Paul Tremblay - author of last year's Stoker Winner - A Head Full of Ghosts - extremely freaky.

So, not something that I'm going to read but I was at Hastings today and a female stranger asked me what I thought she should read as she was starting a new position at her work and knew she was going to have some time to do some type of reading. She asked me what kind of books I liked to read and of course I mentioned Steve and she said that she had never read a King book (!!!!) and what would be the best for her. She said many of her patients and co-workers from 'all walks of life and different backgrounds had mentioned King books to her. I at first picked out Joyland and explained that it wasn't horror and that she would probably need a Kleenex or two after she finished it. Then I changed my mind and grabbed a paperback of Delores Claiborne! I told her a brief synopsis ands she thanked me and walked to the counter to pay for it. Maybe she'll become a hard-core King addict like me?
