regarding I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh...

I started identifying with the main female character, especially after she thought, I think how unexciting I am, how dull and unadventurous, and I wonder if he will still want to be with me once he realizes this. When I was young I hated having to tell dates I was afraid to go to the pool or the beach because I couldn't swim and I was a bit afraid of deep water. I was terribly dull compared to girls who loved to swim.

Identifying with her is NOT a good idea! I'm at a part in the book that's super tense. I got so nervous, I was glad I had to quit reading when my kindle told me the battery was low. I'm not sure I can continue reading :(

Decided i had to go back in time to get in readingmood again. Am reading Anne of Green Gables now. She always make me smile. It is one of these books i always return too when i feel a bit low.
Hope you are feeling better soon Kurben - perhaps a touch of seasonal affective disorder? (or maybe just a bit of a let down after all the excitement this summer) :cheerful:

(((NBNP))) I was thinking about getting this one based on the recommendations here. I hope you can pick it up again after a break!

I've had a couple days to recover lol and I think my nerves have quieted down well enough to pick it back up today. I'm dying to see how it ends. Give it a try! :) Maybe 80sFan will create a discussion board :)

A few pages back, some of y'all were discussing Let the Right One In. I havn't read the novel but I saw the film Let Me In. I loved the film and wanted to mention that it's airing again on Syfy on 9-16-16.
Please see the swedish original version! It is really worth the bother with subtitles (or do they dub movies still). It is better than the american remake (i think it is the remake you're referring to).

The woods are lovely dark and deep
IAIN REID, I'm thinking of ending things, 100 pages in on this one, dunno where we are going.

JAMES LEE BURKE, The jealous kind, next to read after 100 pages of Lily.

STEPHEN ROWLEY, Lily and the octopus, Lily is a dog and the octopus is a brain tumor, I think. Have a feeling I will need a tissue box in each room where I am reading this story.

OK, I'm thinking of ending things was very strange and very spooky. Have not figured it out yet, very small book.
AND The jealous kind was not Dave Robicheaux but there I met some wonderful and unforgettable characters. Mr. King refers to Mr. Burke as a gorgeous prose stylist. Loved it!
Lily and the Octopus was indeed tissue necessary.

I'm going to look for a copy of Quarry by Max Alan Collins at the bookstore. I saw the first episode of the show on Cinemax and was impressed. The end gave me chills. I want to find some more Robicheaux mysteries by James Lee Burke, too. These will be added to my TBR list.
You can't go wrong with Burke and Dave!!
