A little half way thru The Partner by John Grisham. It's been awesome from the get go. Hard to category this book. It's suspense, thriller, mystery, action all rolled into one. If u don't read Grisham bc u don't like lawyer courtroom stuff don't sweat it in this one. Yes there is some bc it revolves around a crime but it's not dominating at all. I read a lot of him and never thought I would change the top 5 rankings in my opinion but I think I might have to. Well see when I'm finished.

Has anyone else read this? Ah, the war through the horse's eyes.
I have read it, Nottie! Great book. Another of Adams good ones are "The Plague Dogs". About two dogs that run away from a labaratory where tests are being made on them, then a rumour is spread that they are carrying the plague, totally false, and the book is about their struggle.

I have just put a hold on Watership Down at my local library, haven't been back to this one since I was a child. It made me cry back then... (the song still does ) if it has the same effect now that I've grown, I'll be knocking at your door for tissues, chocolates and other comfort food n drink. :biggrin2:
You are welcome! I'll do my best to keep you supplied but do you think Watership Down is quite so sad as you say? They go through a lot, thats true but they grow because of it and in the end it is worth it.
I've never had the courage to read Watership Down :(
Please do read it! I dont think you need an enormous amount of courage to read it. Do you know that its inception was a tale he invented to pass the time for his two girls during a boring carjourney? He made it up while he was sitting at the wheel. They were so captured that they convinced him it was good enough to be written down and published. So he did and thats how he became an author. Every time i hear that story i want to thank the daughters for making sure it became a book.

It has been a really long time since I read it, perhaps I'm not remembering it very well? I'll let you know once I get into it this time.

I didn't know that about the author and origin of the story, how very cool!

I have a question to pose for anyone who would like to answer:

I need to bring a book with me tomorrow for a long day of (potential) jury selection. I'll be there from 9 until around 5 and was told it is best to bring a book to read

I was thinking maybe Blaze by Richard Bachman?

I have almost every Stephen King book out there - so make a suggestion!

Thanks in advance :nerd::)

Just nothing by John Grisham. That'd be too obvious.

Do you have a Kindle so you'd have a large selection of books from which to choose? Or will they not allow electronicals?

I really liked Blaze and think it's a good choice. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is another good story that's not very long.

She said just bring a regular book - I did not ask about a Kindle but probably they would be banned
:hmm:

I have never read Blaze (or the Talisman for that matter)

Almost everyone I talk to gives me tips on how to get OUT of jury duty - like it's a bad thing

I am pretty sure I will get paid by my work if I do get selected :broke:

I would like to be on a jury too.

If you haven't read Blaze, I would definitely recommend it. I'm meh on The Talisman, but it's been a long time since I read it, so may need to revisit it.

Good Luck!

Definitely, Blaze if you haven't read it. Keep the Pet Sematary paperback in your purse for backup, lol.
