Currently reading In Sunlight or in Shadow: Stories Inspired by the Paintings of Edward Hopper, a collection of short stories by authors such as Joyce Carol Oates, Lee Child, Megan Abbott, and Sai King. Loving it so far, and it's a beautiful book!

Good Saturday afternoon.

I am reading I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells. fljoe0 talked about the movie (on Netflix now) and being based on the the books. By the way, if this is YA the kids who are reading this must have a pretty strong stomach. (The author has freaking awesome knowledge on serial killers, I should know.)

I went back to amazon and looked up this book and I was wrong about it being for young adults. In the description about the author's novels, there was a mention that Dan Wells had written a young adult novel. I misread that and thought it meant this book. I'm going to have to pick this book up.

I'm getting to the age where I consider a young adult to be 35. ;-D

I think maybe we should take up crosswords (I used to do them all the time) and other word games to exercise our brains?
Or we could just give in to it and invest in a couple of recliners for the porch? :biggrin2:
I do crossword puzzles almost every day at work at lunch time, so that's covered. It's just the words that I don't use in everyday life that are becoming harder to pull up out of the muck that is my brain. :O_O:

I may or may not have ordered this. I wish in your order history, instead of the number they would post the number of your order and the name of the book so I don't have to click on every single one. I order a lot through them. It's a pain to have to check the history one by one because they are ONLY identified by order number. I do it occasionally to make sure I'm receiving everything.

Yes, I agree. There should be an easier way. You know what I've done is create a 'Stephen King' folder on my Outlook mail page and anytime I order a King title I slide it over there.

I've been reading Patti Smith's "M Train" recently. Patty drinks black coffee like Hunter Thompson used to gobble narcotics! She is mainlining on that sh-t! She wanders thru numerous cities (of course cities! can you imagine Patti Smith in the country?) in boots, a watch cap and an old black coat covered in cat hair that someone left in her apartment in the mid-70's, making incredibly insightful observations. She meets psychotic anti-Semitic chessmaster Bobby Fischer, and they sing Beach Boys songs together. She takes lots of naps & has bizarre, telling dreams. The book should be bleak, but somehow isn't. And is! She buys a beautiful half destroyed one-room bungalow in Rockaway Beach, Queens, and Hurricane Sandy tries to finish the job. Patti lives largely on speaking engagements these days. And arriving in a new city, once she's settled in some hostel she seeks out the nearest barebones nearly empty coffee shop where she can pull out all her old notebooks and write in longhand until, famished she goes to stuff herself on miso soup with tofu. Yeah, Patti, you're a real glutton! Honey, do you know how many buckets of chicken I've eaten in my life?! This is a good read though, and I hate to finish it. I love Patti, and have always found her unconventionally beautiful, which hey, is the best kind!

Drilling myself deeper inside Oates "Give Me Your Heart". It goes a bit slow because each story in the collection makes you think a bit (and sometimes shiver). Just finished The First Husband in which the second husband discovers old photos in his wifes private drawer of the first husband. All the time time he is telling himself he is not jealous while the reader sees the jealousy eating the sane man away and the only question is what will he do when the the green sickness has done its work?

Kurben, have you read Child 44 trilogy. I'm wanting to read them after seeing rave reviews on Amazon. The movie is on HBO right now. I wish I had not watched until I read the trilogy, too late. Thanks.

Try buying some Omega 3 oil in capsules - it is expensive but sometimes goes on sale - this is really supposed to help your brain - just don't take too many or you will be running to get to the bathroom in time :run_pig:

I have only read the first book. Child 44, which was good. I wouldn't say it was the best ever in its genre but definitely worth reading. Somehow the others have passed me by.
