I think it's his best in years!Just finished Joyland. I loved it so much. No one can turn a phrase or tell a story like King.

Nine Meals - Mike Kilroy (2014)
I guess I've been in a post apocalyptic mood lately. I stumbled upon this one through the "kindle daily deal." The post apocalyptic world was been caused by a massive solar disturbance that wiped out all power, satellites, electronics and communication. And we all know when people don't have their electricity and other conveniences, they can get pretty ugly. I'm not too far in but I'm already willing to say that this is a good one.
Me tooThanks fljoe0, I think I'll see if I can find this on the Barnes and Noble site, sounds interesting. I'm ALWAYS in a post apocalyptic reading mood
Yes it was goodHas anyone ready anything by John Fowles? I have The Magus on my Kindle wish list and thinking about reading it next.
I read the French Lieutenants Woman recently and The Magus at least twenty years ago. He's an original and has a knack for stirring the reader in many ways.Has anyone ready anything by John Fowles? I have The Magus on my Kindle wish list and thinking about reading it next.
Noted. Thanks!I read the French Lieutenants Woman recently and The Magus at least twenty years ago. He's an original and has a knack for stirring the reader in many ways.

I read it after actually seeing SK praising it on Twitter. I thought it was just OK, though. It felt like she was trying to write a Gillian Flynn novel, but it didn't quite measure up.I am struggling to get into "The Girl On The Train" By Paula Hawkins. Has anyone here read this book?
I'm reading "How Ronald Reagan Changed My Life" by Peter Robinson, one of his speechwriters. Pretty interesting reading. Obviously it's all total conjecture and I sometimes find the hero-worship a little too overblown for me to take his interpretation of Reagan completely seriously, but it's a sweet, idealistic little picture of how you'd want a leader of the Free World to be.
Reagan did alot of good while in office. But, my heart will never forgive him and his 'cabinet' for how they reacted (or should I say ignored) to the Aids crises while it was happening. Shame on them.Regan, a hero? must be referring to his Hollywood days ...
I read it, Becks, and I quite liked it. The writing wasn't stellar, but the plot was interesting. I agree, though, hard to get into at first.I am struggling to get into "The Girl On The Train" By Paula Hawkins. Has anyone here read this book?
Please tell me that the article on Kristen Stewart was tongue-in-cheek! That girl has one expressions and only one- scowling.Last Saturday's 'Weekend' section of the Newcastle Herald. Three articles: 1) Something about the muscian, Tony Joe White( he's playing at Lizottes in Lambton on Saturday). 2) An article about the actress Kristen Stewart, how she might be the best actress in Hollywood. 3) About the Comic-Con in San-Diego.
Dani, Thank you!! I read it last night and got to about the last hundred pages. It kept my interest (finally) trying to figure out what's going on. I think a lot of my problem, other than the slow beginning was that I didn't "like" the main character.I read it, Becks, and I quite liked it.
