I read her first book, A Great Deliverance, and loved it--fairly flew through it.This is also in Ka-Tet Cantina, but I thought I might catch a few readers here who don't visit there
Has anyone read Elizabeth George's books? I just got one in the mail (for review), and it's a brick. Needs to be done by the 27th of October (release date). I'm not familiar with her work--is she a 'needs total concentration' writer?

Leave it to Kurben to have read 9 of this woman's books. She is uneven. Her first books are the best with Payment in blood as an exceåtion. A Great deliverance is great but Well Schooled in Murder, For The Sake Of Elena and A Suitable Vengeance are good too. But she has gone on writing Lynley for to long and to me it seems as she has gotten bored with her own character. Her later Lynleys i dont like. Playing for the Ashes, Missing Joseph and In the presence of the Enemy are acceptable but the rest. The latest i read was This Body Of Death (2010) which was very far from being good. She has had a tendency to get longer and longer since about 2000 and it has not helped the books quality. They are not difficult to read but if it is her latest it could be difficult to keep interest. I'm still hoping she might find the form from about 1988 to 1994 but so far no sign of it.
I loved all three of these books! The Wayward Pines Trilogy - Blake Crouch
Finished book 1, "The Pines" and loved it
Halfway through book 2 "Wayward" and it's good too
Can't wait to get to book 3, "The Last Town"
An interview with the film director Russ Meyer from a 1991 Gallery magazine.
“Is there then no American auteur director?” wrote William Goldman in his book about the movie business,Adventures in the Screen Trade. “Perhaps there is one. One man who thinks up his own stories and produces his pictures and directs them too. And also serves as his own cinematographer. Not to mention he also does his own editing. That man is Russ Meyer.”
A Banquet of Consequences. Im side eyeing it, after the description you and Kurben gave. I don't remember requesting it (I have to check with my publisher), but if it was sent unsolicited it's up to me whether I review it or not. I've already got a pretty good stack next to my reading chair (lol), so Im leaning toward NO. Thank you for your thoughts!I read her first book, A Great Deliverance, and loved it--fairly flew through it.
Her second book, Payment in Blood, was like reading a script for a bad soap opera...terrible.
I didn't give her any chances after that. Perhaps I should try another? Which one will you review?
I think that happens a lot, authors getting tired of a long-running character. A friend of mine calls the last 3 Sookie Stackhouse books The Contractural Obligation Years", because everything that was actually interesting or useful in all 3 books could have been summed up in a single chapter of one book Thank you for your opinion! She is uneven.
