I didn't know that that came in a cut and uncut version. So when I've had to replace my 1974 version of The Stand, I wasn't getting the same book? I didn't notice a difference but I was leaving years between readings.
Thanks for not telling me I'm holding out hope thatAwww, isn't it terrible what he did? I kinda feel like I should have warned you! I made the mistake of opening a spoiler before I had even started the book, so I missed the big emotional wallop, but I'm kinda glad I did.
The 1990 release restored about 400 pages that had been cut from the 1978 version and as AnnaMarie mentioned, it was because the publisher didn't think people would pay the extra money they would need to charge to print a book that long.
Plus, the book would've fallen apart after the first read because Doubleday wasn't known back then for their quality of manufacturing. The 1990 release restored about 400 pages that had been cut from the 1978 version and as AnnaMarie mentioned, it was because the publisher didn't think people would pay the extra money they would need to charge to print a book that long.

But surely you believe in lust at first sight?NIGHT DIVER (for review). Just 'eh' so far. Romancey stuff really turns me off when the people are in love from the first moment they set eyes on each other. I'm too pragmatic to buy that--lol
Points for what? A bet?I get points.

Being one of the many silly, I think it's appropriate and I agree. I, a lot of the time, sing the "I was right" jingle, too.Just because I'm rather silly. Ms. Mod confirmed I was right about something I posted earlier in this thread....so I decided I get points for it.
Abso-frickin-lutely Love takes time, though. But surely you believe in lust at first sight?
That's one I liked much better upon a second reading--I was too young the first time I read it for the politics and emotions to resonate.I'm reading the Dead Zone, and I am very impressed. Have about 100 pages left. I'm still a SK Newbie and had no clue this book would be this good.

You are lucky . . .I really loved book!
I have burned through this one. Really enjoying it, but not sure where to go next. I may read Salem's Lot; I may read IT. I chose The Dead Zone over Salem's Lot on a sort of... IDK feeling, maybe the kind of feeling you get when you're at a carnival and see a wheel of... I just wish I had more time to read. Salem's Lot has been on my list since reading the DT books, purely because of Father Callahan. That's one I liked much better upon a second reading--I was too young the first time I read it for the politics and emotions to resonate.
