So here is a little ditty about my summer that happened yesterday.
My daughter has a 2000 Honda Accord. My son was at summer band practice yesterday. She picked him up from practice and they went to Busch Gardens in Tampa fopr the after noon. Around 5 or 6 some storms rolled through and shut everything down so they decided to leave. When they returned to the car, the engine had caught fire and literally melted the front end of the car to the ground.
Apparently about 20 mins after they parked and went in, the engine compartment caught fire. The fire dept showed up pretty quickly and put it out. They were on a ride when they heard the sirens. They didn't hear a PA announcement throughout the park about it. The head of security told them what he knew and we headed over to pick them up.
Everyone is OK, BTW and no other cars were damaged. But my son's $12K tuba was in the car. Fortunately unharmed save a little smoke smell in the case felt. Anyway we are waiting for the tow truck to come. My son, the unique guy he is (also 6'2" and hair to his waist) gets his tuba out and is playing it while we are waiting. I see a group of people, maybe 15 or so get off the tram stop near us and walk towards us to get their car. They are then treated to he scene of this burnt out car, bumper a melted blob on the ground, hood buckled and black, and this tall long haired kid playing his tuba.
I saw one girl look over, get a very confused appearance and mouth the words "What the f***???"
It's Florida, hossenpepper . Just glad all safe and tuba too!So here is a little ditty about my summer that happened yesterday.

No offense to this kid, but my son is WAAAAAY better than him.Can he play this song?
It looks like possibly the battery exploded. Its hard to tell exactly, but the starting point seems to be near it.Good gravy Hoss!! How did it catch on fire, do you know?
Went there a lot as a kid, always liked it a lot. Went back as a teenager couple of times after I moved to NWA didn't seem as big a deal. Pretty country surrounding the park definitely but if you go, go in the fall, it's very, very warm in the summer. If I remember correctly there's a water park right beside it now.Oh how I wish! No - she's on a small lake in MS that's fairly close to us, so I'm happy about that. I love Hot Springs! We used to go to the Arlington often, but then we had more kids and got out of the habit. What do you think about Magic Springs? Worth the money? It's about 3 hours away for us.
....lithium battery????.....It looks like possibly the battery exploded. Its hard to tell exactly, but the starting point seems to be near it.
Have you been to see the Spook Light yet?Went there a lot as a kid, always liked it a lot. Went back as a teenager couple of times after I moved to NWA didn't seem as big a deal. No just standard car battery. They release hydrogen gas when they pop and that is HIGHLY flammable with even a tiny spark. She had a few leaks in it, so there was oil residue on the engine and such. All could easily start a fire.....lithium battery????.....

Add a guy playing a tuba to this and its still less strange than yesterday.
Sorry that this happened, Hoss.So here is a little ditty about my summer that happened yesterday.

As a reminder to everyone- never smoke a cigarette around your engine compartment. My brother's battery blew up because of this.No just standard car battery. They release hydrogen gas when they pop and that is HIGHLY flammable with even a tiny spark. She had a few leaks in it, so there was oil residue on the engine and such. All could easily start a fire.
It's one of those hands up shrug, what the hell ya gonna do, things. I appreciate the sentiment though my friend!Sorry that this happened, Hoss.
Years ago my sister owned a Corvair (remember those?!!!!) that burned up in a laundrymat parking lot. Her first car. It's one of those hands up shrug, what the hell ya gonna do, things. I appreciate the sentiment though my friend!
...if you took pics, text me with them....it's priceless man....you owe me anyway, having seen my large keister pointed skyward getting out of a small car....Add a guy playing a tuba to this and its still less strange than yesterday.
No, but I have friends that play high stakes poker once a week. Too dicey for me. I have family that occasionally go to Wetumpka or Biloxi to gamble but nothing extravagant. In summer they usually come back with empty pockets and sun burn.Pardon.
Does anyone gamble with your family or friends? Like play cards or darts for money?
I'm asking because a friend of mine asked me if I knew what a Toma todo was and where he could get one.
A Toma todo is a pirinola (spinning top) like this
It's a bit tricky to use this. At first I thought it was unbalanced. But after a couple times playing "Toma todo" it got easier to spin it. We play this game with dimes or quarters. Everyone start off by betting one dime in the jackpot. Take turns spinning it to find out if you can win it all!
Pon 1 (put one)
Pon 2 (put two)
Toma 1 (take one)
Toma 2 (take two)
T. Ponen >todos ponen (everyone puts one)
T. Todo >toma todo (take it all)
I explained all this to him. He was thinking about have people come over where they would play this and asked me if I thought it was a good idea. I told him my family and some friends used to play a long time ago. It was fun and a way to play and hang as long as no one gets cranky losing. If I remember correctly we played for dimes and no one played more than five to ten dollars max.
Does anyone play friends/family games for money?
