You hear something on the news or hear the neighbourhood buzzing about something very scary...what would you consider the most overwhelming news? What makes you wanna hide under the bed?
For me, it would be news of a killer who is randomly killing folks...this has happened in Edmonton. I am also very afeared of tornado warnings...since many lives were lost during the big one we had years ago. I would love to hear of some vampire attacks lol. Would not that be fun to garnish your windows with garlic and have crosses hung everywhere? Sigh, but that is only for fun and not real.
What would definately keep you inside?

As summer approaches so does tropical season to the Atlantic/gulf coast areas-- Even the Pacific. Normal rain season rains and winds cause one to stay inside, especially living in the lightning capital of the world.
Rural area, so doors and windows are always locked. My crazy "vampires" are the coons:heheh:

Wouldn't it be fun to have a real one, though? That is my romantic heart speaking. I wanna cringe in the chimney corner with Mina and Lucy.
Maryann, I imagine it is scary during the hurricane season where you are. It is not the same as being able to bolt your door. You have to bolt and take you and the critters away,eh?

It's true, the critters are a responsibility- family. They need to be kept safe. I've only had to evacuation once, before I had the critters. I hope the need never comes, so many are special needs and old in age.

after thought-- more needs to be done in the way of shelters for critters.

The Zombie Apocalypse worries me.....but I'm prepared....:sneaky::lee: I'm gonna be the guy picking off zombies from my roof with a rifle..lol

I was tempted to put "Zombie Apocalypse" down as the primary reason for wanting my LTC when I applied for it. My better judgement advised me that the licensing officer would not find that joke funny.......

Well, not far from my neck of the woods, there's apparently a serial shooter who is taking shots at random solo people when no one else is around. One girl was wounded, a bunch of windows have been shot out, and two innocent, good-hearted people are dead. It's not a happy scenario.

I run up and down the highways where this crap has happened, and it doesn't have me on edge. It's a busy stretch of road. I'm more mindful of the severe storms that have been rumbling through.

We all do our threat assessments and probabilities and act accordingly. So this person, as awful as this may be, doesn't have me intimidated. Now, if our dog started barking uncontrollably and showing her teeth, fur standing straight up off her back... that would make me take notice.

I guess i'm boring but so far nothing has. Feel quite safe inside with or without locks. But if there appeared in my neighbourhood a crazed attacker of random people i guess i would take notice when i'm out. I've called the cops (and the firemen) once. When i heard a terrific bang one night, looked out and saw that a car was burning merrily in the parking lot i called. Either kids or someone that was after the insurance money. But i agree with Staro.... It would be nice to have a vampire so you hung garlic at the windows.... I guess i'm just a fool.

Honestly, what springs to my mind is the idea of the police coming to seize my property just because I don't agree with a certain authority, whomever it might be when it might happen. I feel I'm relatively prepared for an attack from an individual loonie, though probably not a group of them.
