Hi!

I've asked this What would you do? question before but we have so many new members I'd like to hear/read their answers.

Your neighbor calls you at home. They have to work late. They have a repairman coming between 5-6pm and they don't want to miss the appointment. Would you be so kind? Let yourself in with the key under the flowerpot and wait for him? Please!? You agree and go over.

You're sitting on the sofa and turn on the TV. The TV turns on and you are now watching... a home made video of your neighbors doing the nasty! ;;D

What would you do?

I appreciate your thoughts!

I wouldn't touch anything in their house. I am cat sitting for my best friend and her husband all of this week and even though we've known each other for years, I don't even step down the hall to the bathroom in their house. All I do is go into the kitchen, put fresh water and food in the bowls, pet the cats, give them treats, go down into the basement to scoop out the litter and leave. No detours. I wouldn't want someone who was house sitting for me to use my television, etc.

I have to agree--I wouldn't have turned on the TV. But, to go with your scenario (in which case, I am not me--lol), if such a thing came on, I'd immediately turn it off (and then obsess that they might know exactly where it left off, but be too freaked out to mess with it again. And I'd not want to interact with them again, because I would be so embarrassed :p)

First, I would be very uncomfortable to go in someone's house while they're not there. There's an insurance thing. It's alright if your'e good friends with them. In regard to the video(I assume you mean DVD) I would have turned it off because you don't know if they had some pin hole or secret video camera recording you to see if you don't do anything. I would have taking a book or a magazine and a takeaway coffee with me while I waited for the tradesperson to finish. But you can look at it as a compliment that they must trust your integrity.

Chances are, I wouldn't do the favor in the first place, unless I know the neighbor REALLY well. Even then, I'd have to think about it. I mean, even if I do know the neighbor, I don't know the repairman. I'm a tiny little 52 year old woman, a buck fifteen soaking wet. I wouldn't leave myself vulnerable to either. The neighbor or the repair guy. Unless I'm armed. Then it's all good.

As for the tv, I wouldn't touch it. I'm only supposed to be there for a few minutes. I wouldn't turn on their entertainment systems anymore than I'd help myself to what's in their fridge.

I do not watch tv.
I only watch TV when I put a DVD in the DVD player. I do not watch free to air or pay TV. I think I'm a fake because how would I'd know what's good back when I watched it if I did the same now.But I think the standard of television has gone down the craphole, all the reality shows and other stuff. I try to be selective and highlight what I want to watch for the week. I do watch a little bit of televison.

The problem with you people in America is you have some much choice. You most probably could just watch baseball, basketball, football, etc 24/7. I was watching a little bit of that 'slam-dunk' contest about two weeks ago and I thought it was fun. But I can't stand those cooking programs with contestants and the judges. I liked the old cooking programs where there was a middle aged lady with some eggs and stuff and she'd just say that today we are going to make a traditional whatever. The only cooking program I've watched of late is the Hairy Biker's show from England. Rick Stein's alright. I used to like Keith Floyd. I don't like any of the Australian ones.

To follow the scenario - I would try to quick turn it off, but they both would probably be walking in the door and catch me - thinking I watched it.
