Southern term of endearment. Much like possum brain or stump skull. Sunny's called me both and I feel so privileged.
"Egad" and "egads" are minced oaths...
A minced oath is a euphemistic expression formed by misspelling, mispronouncing, or replacing a part of a profane, blasphemous, or taboo term to reduce the original term's objectionable characteristics. Some examples include gosh, darn, dang, and heck.

Thank ya ma'am, I think so too. The guys I used to work with were very sensitive to my name, only making fun of it a few times a day for the most part...lol Most of the time is was things like "We should just call you Brittney since you have a girl's name anyway." Or, "I've known a lot of Shannons....and they were all better looking than you.....because they were girls." "Did your parents hate you or did they think you were a girl when you were first born?" I get Louise, Louis, Eloise and one hard of hearing lady still calls me Rose. I don't mind that one, it's a pretty name.I'm wondering how else one would pronounce it
