Powerball in America or Australia? Did you know that 80% of all winners of such prizes are broke within five years. All the cons and the relatives start skulking around looking for a slice and then there's the fifty foot plasma television to go on the seventy foot cruiser and the new house and the Ferrari.

Not me.
Well. I'd create the horse farm I've been eyeballing forever, but I'd do it modestly. House, barn, horses. That's it. The rest goes in the bank and earns interest. Relatives that didn't have time for me when I'm broke can keep right on steppin if I ever do become worth any money. Same thing with cons and Ferraris. I'm cool with my Chrysler.

I have heard all these theories about how to win...some say do the quick pick, some say you have to choose your own numbers. Who picks their own numbers and who goes for the quick picks?

Unless it's a game you play every draw, I would do quick picks. When I fill out a card and start playing certain numbers, I get scared not to play them again because they may come in without my playing them. I can buy quick picks and never have to worry about that because I won't remember what the numbers were I played. One of the great fears of playing lotto games is having your numbers come in when you didn't play them. ;-D

I don't play powerball very often, so I buy quick picks when I do. We do have a game called Fantasy Five (that only has a top prize of $200,000 but doesn't have the astronomical odds of powerball) that I play all the time and I have numbers I play for that.

I get random numbers. And yeah, it's just so that when the winner's announced, Grandma knows that at least it wouldn't have been us.

The simple fact is that a combination of 1,2,3,4,5,6 has the same likelihood as any other combination.

Oh, gosh, I just realized I don't have the right spirit.

Can't wait! If I win, I'll sponsor KingKon! Paid-up debts and paid-for housing for the whole family, and nice houses too! Hey, I bet an agent would pay attention to me then! But first, a lawyer to secure anonymity! A lawyer I trust! I'm in trouble already!

Don't ever buy numbers like that because tons of people play numbers like 1,2,3,4,5 and 1,3,5,7,9 etc

We had a Fantasy Five drawing a couple of years ago where the numbers came up 1,2,3,4,5 (or something close) and there were 98 winners and the payout was only around $2k. (Fantasy Five is a daily game here with an approx payout of $200,000k)

If I won Fantasy Five, I would be a little ticked to just win $2k

That's actually a pretty fun number. There's an estimated $900 million cash value (gross, before taxes), and divided by 162, that comes out to $5,555,555.55 (rounding down a half penny) each. Cool!
