What's he looking for on page 439?Even ones that are in bad shape sell for some bucks, if they're a 1st printing. Ask him to tell you the code on the inner margin of page 439.

I have an extra hardcover of On Writing that I'd be happy to send you if you PM me your address. On Writing - in paperback first printing July 2002 - I don't care if it's rare or not - this is one book I did not own before and I love this book
Towards the bottom of the page close to the inside there should be a code- a letter (possibly two letters) follwed by two numbers. What's he looking for on page 439?
I have texted him and I will let you know when he gets back to me. I can't imagine it being valuable. Surely somebody would have known that and not put it out on a shelf for sale. I think he bought it for 15 bucks.Towards the bottom of the page close to the inside there should be a code- a letter (possibly two letters) follwed by two numbers.
Really? Wow (I can PM you - thanks!)I have an extra hardcover of On Writing that I'd be happy to send you if you PM me your address.

Not to get your hopes up, Deej, but I have posted on here before about finding an absolutely beautiful hardback 1st printing of Carrie at a used bookstore (where they should have known the value) and paid $7.99 for it. This was a well-established used/new bookstore that had many rare titles in their inventory. They had had copies of Carrie for sale before and the prices ranged from $400 (poor condition) to $700 (decent). This copy should have sold for $1,000 as it looks like it was just published. Sometimes mistakes are made and rare titles slip thru the cracks. And, yes, I RAN out of the store after I paid for it!I have texted him and I will let you know when he gets back to me. Can you believe they are still sitting in the back of my Jeep? They are safe in there, but I need to stir my lazy butt and bring them into the house!~
I spent 62 bucks total, but that also included a nice big 9" x 15" glass Pyrex pan to make my "dainties" in (that is what they call squares and bars in Manitoba!)
How about if I go get them out tomorrow and then post what I found?
- I am sure a couple are duplicates but I love to find his books in excellent condition, so I could always give them away as gifts (for that discerning SK fan who has 'everything' ).
Yeah, I got a first edition Carrie last year for a dollar or two--had a BCE dust jacket on it that was pretty hammered, but the book itself is in good shape. I bought it because I didn't have a HB of that particular book--didn't even know to check what edition, etc. until I was talking to people here--lol. I just like nice copies, preferably HB. I don't think I have any PBs of Mr. King's books left but a copy of The Stand (original) for sentiment's sake--I think I killed 4 PB copies of that one before I finally got a HB. Oh, and the first 4 DT and The Green Mile in TPB.Not to get your hopes up, Deej, but I have posted on here before about finding an absolutely beautiful hardback 1st printing of Carrie at a used bookstore (where they should have known the value) and paid $7.99 for it. Yes, I don't have it so it is fine with me.Yeah, I got a first edition Carrie last year for a dollar or two--had a BCE dust jacket on it that was pretty hammered, but the book itself is in good shape. Devil's advocate on Dana Jean 's book: it's likely a reprint (someone reprinted the older books in original covers/format a few years back). I have one that looks just like an original, but no cigar. Still a nice book to have around
Yes, I don't have it so it is fine with me.
Thanks I didn't know about that book. I must try to find. You can go on ebay and check around or go to bettsbooks.com. But make sure you know what you're looking at and what you've got in your hand- meaning that if you have one of the original sized copies of 'Salem's Lot don't just assume it's a first printing, etc. Know what you need to look for. Also, there a book called Stephen King Collectibles- An Illustrated Price Guide by George Beahm that Betts Books published in 2000 that can give you an idea of what some books are worth (at that time) plus has photos. Good luck!
Actually I did post the books I ended up getting - the post is on a previous page - I did forget one book though (it fell behind the couch when it somehow slipped out of the bag) as I did not see it until I had already posted.Sounds good I know you are a busy lady; so when you have time is fine. The Pyrex dish for dainties (I call them that too) was
a great find. Makes a great lasagna pan as well, I think. Ever heard of a 9"x 9" glass Pyrex. They are really hard to get.
Okay - got off my lazy duff so here is the list:
- Hardcover - Bag of Bones number in front is 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 so must be first edition
- Hearts in Atlantis (also hardcover) exact same sequence of numbers as above (unfortunately it is a duplicate!) i.e. I already had one!
- The six part series (mini books) of the Green Mile
- The Dead Zone first printing August 1980 but it looks a wee bit 'old' as the paper is somewhat dingy. (paperback)
- The Eyes of the Dragon first printing January 1988 - in good condition (paperback) - came with a free bookmark
- On Writing - in paperback first printing July 2002 - I don't care if it's rare or not - this is one book I did not own before and I love this book
- The Green Mile in large softcover format - first Plume printing May 1997 - good condition
- The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon - first pocket books printing February 2000 - good condition
- The Bachman Books First Plume (Omnibus) Printing October, 1985 (quite a large book but still paperback)
- The Dark Tower The Gunslinger First Plume Printing September 1988 (with illustrations) - in good condition other than a small flaw on the front cover - it is not a hard cover and it says that The Gunslinger previously appeared in a limited edition published by Donald M. Grant Rhode Island, but the number on the inside cover says 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 for whatever that is worth
- and... last but not least! - a hardcover of Lisey's Story, first edition 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 (2006) with a dust jacket in like new condition - I do not think this book has ever been read! (plus I checked my book shelves and I only had this in paperback)
Thanks! (Maybe some day I will get as lucky as KRF!) see belowWow!! You cleaned up girl!!

Lets all go.No bookstore finds but someone told me about a Thrift Store in Kelowna that has, as she put it, 'thousands of books'. I think
my heart started racing... Now to figure out the buses and how to get there....
