Get this: so one day I hit Goodwill lookin for the usual, come across four decent condish copies of Don Pendelton's old EXECUTIONER series--earlier ones, like BOSTON BLITZ, SHOWDOWN IN SOHO, etc. Snatched em up and headed for the checkout, where the clerk sez, smirking, "You just missed em, we had, like, ALL of these just half an hour ago."

"No kidding?"

"Yep," she giggles. "My husband bought all of em. He loves em. When I saw we had those I called him up and tole em."

That's just dirty pool right there. Doggone employees hadn't ought get first dibs on the merchandise, dagblastit.
At least they got out onto the sales floor before an employee snatched them up!

Well I bought 10 John Grisham hardcovers for $1.50 each (but VV here always has the deal buy 4 get the 5th free). In paperbacks I bought Salem's Lot (original one), Salem's Lot U.K.
edition (original one), It, The Stand (the first one), The Stand U.K. Edition (the first one), The Stand Complete and Uncut, Pet Sematary, the series of 6 novellas of the Green Mile (been
looking for them a LONG time). The paperbacks were $1.00 each (same deal, buy 4 get the 5th free). All the books are in very good condition; I don't think most of the paperbacks
have even been read. All the paperbacks say 'First Edition' in them. So, coming home on the bus with 2 bags of books, I had a huge grin on my face. It was half price day at VV
on all books. LOVE that day!! They send out emails when there are
sales too.
Sweetheart, you got an amazing haul there!!

I bought a big pile of SK books from Value Village today - hard covers and paperbacks - all in pretty good condition (some in "like new" condition) and almost all were first editions - I really splurged!

Neesy my curiosity is killing me :lol2:. what SK books did you find on your visit to VV (in Canada, a lot of people call it VV Boutique).

Can you believe they are still sitting in the back of my Jeep? They are safe in there, but I need to stir my lazy butt and bring them into the house!~

I spent 62 bucks total, but that also included a nice big 9" x 15" glass Pyrex pan to make my "dainties" in (that is what they call squares and bars in Manitoba!) :smile-new:

How about if I go get them out tomorrow and then post what I found?

- I am sure a couple are duplicates but I love to find his books in excellent condition, so I could always give them away as gifts (for that discerning SK fan who has 'everything':biggrin2:).

Okay - got off my lazy duff so here is the list:

  • Hardcover - Bag of Bones number in front is 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 so must be first edition
  • Hearts in Atlantis (also hardcover) exact same sequence of numbers as above (unfortunately it is a duplicate!) :facepalm_smiley: i.e. I already had one!
  • The six part series (mini books) of the Green Mile
  • The Dead Zone first printing August 1980 but it looks a wee bit 'old' as the paper is somewhat dingy. (paperback)
  • The Eyes of the Dragon first printing January 1988 - in good condition (paperback) - came with a free bookmark :biggrin2:
  • On Writing - in paperback first printing July 2002 - I don't care if it's rare or not - this is one book I did not own before and I love this book
  • The Green Mile in large softcover format - first Plume printing May 1997 - good condition
  • The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon - first pocket books printing February 2000 - good condition
  • The Bachman Books First Plume (Omnibus) Printing October, 1985 (quite a large book but still paperback)
  • The Dark Tower The Gunslinger First Plume Printing September 1988 (with illustrations) - in good condition other than a small flaw on the front cover - it is not a hard cover :sorrow: and it says that The Gunslinger previously appeared in a limited edition published by Donald M. Grant Rhode Island, but the number on the inside cover says 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 for whatever that is worth :umm:
  • and... last but not least! - a hardcover of Lisey's Story, first edition 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 (2006) with a dust jacket in like new condition - I do not think this book has ever been read! (plus I checked my book shelves and I only had this in paperback)

My son just bought me a hardcover Salem's Lot, Cujo and Christine. I owned none of them. I'm sure they are not valuable, I just needed them for my bookcase.
I think hardcover Salem's Lot might be rare (??) but I am not the expert here.

Just nice that your son was thinking of you! :smile-new::joyous::thumbs_up:

Hey KRF - where can you find out how much certain SK books are worth?
Thanks for your time! :love_heart: ;DD
You can go on ebay and check around or go to bettsbooks.com. But make sure you know what you're looking at and what you've got in your hand- meaning that if you have one of the original sized copies of 'Salem's Lot don't just assume it's a first printing, etc. Know what you need to look for. Also, there a book called Stephen King Collectibles- An Illustrated Price Guide by George Beahm that Betts Books published in 2000 that can give you an idea of what some books are worth (at that time) plus has photos. Good luck!
