I am SO ready for our library book sale! I haven't bought a book in a couple of weeks, and I have a couple more before the sale. I'm getting the shakes :waaaht:
Our next one isn't until Oct. 1-3. I NEED to become a "friend of the library" so I can get first dibs the day before - depends on how much the minimum donation is though. Maybe I can volunteer also, since money is always tight!

That is actually a better set up - everyone on equal footing. Fair.
It is... but I still don't love it. It gets CRAZY at ours! I've seen fistfights break out (the librarians are quick to eject people when that happens), and I'm always getting hit with someone's bag or trying not to stomp a small child. I can't believe people bring little kids & babies, because it's hella hot, super crowded, and very, very noisy. The first hour is the worst, but if you're not there, a lot of good stuff is gone. What makes it worse is that the librarians don't have enough room to put out all of the books at once, so there are boxes full underneath the tables that get put out as there is room. As a result, there are always people who stop dead in an aisle and pull out the still packed boxes to look in them. AAARRRGH! I wouldn't miss it, though (and usually go back for the last hour when books are all you can put in a bag for $1. Because I'm apparently insane).

P.S. Don't tell ME kindles are killing the printed word. Any author would be awed to see so many people desperate for actual, real, paper books :)

Whoa... that is scary! Our sales are nothing like this, but then it is a fairly small library/and town.

Ours lumps all of our county library branches together (I seem to remember there are 5 libraries altogether) and has one sale in the unfinished basement of one of the libraries. It really is like Christmas II at my house, because we all (those who go) love books so much. At $.50 for PB, $.75 for HB, $1 for DVDs & CDs, you can't beat it. Plus, he gave extra equipment and things people donated specifically for the sale as well--we bought a really nice TV for $5 one year--lol.

Each library here has its own sale. We go to 3 different cities at different times.
