Not here, except Owen King :) Older (Pre Pet Sematery) books are less common, but they pop up occasionally. Anything after Pet Sematery are easy to find, and the most I've seen them for is $6 (for the newest books. More often, they're less than $3).

Your post just reminded me to thank you again for the HB Pet Semetary. It's a beautiful copy and I'm only missing a handful of King books now.

Let me know if you find one. I have an extra hardcover BCE of Different Seasons I could send to you (along with a copy of Horns). :)

Hey Morgan, are there any King titles you are missing? Would you be interested in a trade for your BCE Different Seasons? I have extras of the last 3 Dark Tower books, and some others. Let me know what you don't have.

I'm looking at my bookcase now, and I also have an extra copy of Wizard in Glass- trade edition with pictures, and a BCE of the Bachman Books.

The trade edition of W&G is a large paperback, right? I might have that one - need to check. What condition would you say your Bachman Books BCE is in? I know I don't have hardcovers of The Drawing of the Three and W&G. Most of the hardcovers I need are older titles (surprise, surprise! ;-D ).

Doesn't matter, though - I would be more than happy to gift my extra Different Seasons BCE to you. PM me your address. :)

Today the mailman delivered a very nice 1st printing hardback of The Island by Peter Benchley. It was described as an ex-library copy (which I failed to see the library icon when I ordered it) and even though it came with the dj in a Brodart cover, there are no library stampings or other marks in/on it at all.

So today I stopped in at Hastings and discovered that they are having a book sale for all used books and are charging $2.99 for any used book listed at $29.99 or less!! I came home with a 1st hardback of Arcadia by Lauren Groff (who is quickly becoming one of my most favorite authors!) and a 1st hardback re-issue of Dracula by Bram Stoker, which was published at the same time as the sequel written by one of Bram's great nephews (which was not a good book, IMHO). Even though both books are 'used' they don't look like they've been read at all.

I'm curious what you think of Arcadia. That one is a poser for me--I loved probably the first 3/4, and then it crashed in the last bit. If I was to rate it, it would get a 3 (4.5 for the first 3/4 and 1.5 for the last quarter).

Not a book, but I was tickled to find that a brooch/pin I bought at Savers for $1.99 today is worth a bit more. One just like it sold on eBay for $65 today :) I just thought it was pretty and elegant, and I like pins. Once I got it home, I noticed that it had an original tag still attached, so I googled the maker and the style for ****zngigz. I guess I have a better eye than I thought (or I'm fortunate--lol)

I'm just now watching Antiques Roadshow. Yes I am, because I love that show. Anyhow... I saw a first edition signed Hobbit, very good condition with first printing dust-jacket with minor bumping. It was valued at $80,000.00 to $120,000.00. It was so beautiful I died.
...and left a beautiful corpse :) I used to like that show quite a bit. My favorite one was the older gentleman who had an original Navajo blanket, before they worked in colors (it was black and off-white). The value was in the millions; he broke into tears when he heard that, and I'd bet most of the audience cried right along with him (I know I got teary!).

I remember seeing a lady on Antiques Roadshow who brought in an old dresser that had been in her family for a few generations- other that that she knew nothing about it. AR valued it at $250,000-300,000. She was dumbfounded to say the least. A couple of months later I was channel surfing and just happened to come across an auction at Sotheby's and the woman had brought her dresser to the auction. There she sat with her family gathered around her in the seats as the bids started. The bidding reached $300,000 and kept going and going and going all the way up to $500,000!!! She couldn't even talk.....

Isn't that something? I would have been bawling. Because yes, I'm a weenie. I get totally choked up when good fortune comes to people who don't expect anything.

Was so depressed yesterday, then I remembered the library's used book sale started today. Yay - something to look forward to! Didn't find much, but the thrill is in the digging, I guess. Only saw ONE King book!! HC of Thinner without the dust jacket, and I already have three of those (also missing the dust jackets!). If I would've been looking for John Grisham books, I would've been in heaven. Or if I needed 65 copies of The Da Vinci Code! ;;D

I did find a cool pb collection of letters and poems by Poe and a true crime pb about the most notorious serial killers (I thought of Sigmund! :) ). Also bought hardcovers of an early printing of The World According to Garp, The Skin Collector by Jeffrey Deaver (one of the few novels of his I haven't read) and an early printing of Rising Sun by Michael Crichton that I'd never heard of before. So, better than nothing, but I'm always looking for a King treasure. Saw two paperbacks of Rage by other authors and my heart almost stopped both times! ;-D
