The Stand Audiobook Coming in February

Random House Audio will be releasing the long-awaited unedited audiobook edition of The Stand which will be read by Grover Gardner.  The exact date of publication has not yet been determined, but is tentatively scheduled to be on February 14, 2012.  The recording will be released for purchase digitally by Audible.com and iTunes and available in the library market on CD.

Limited Editions of Wind Through the Keyhole from Donald Grant

Donald M. Grant is now taking advance orders for the limited editions of The Wind Through The Keyhole, illustrated by Jae Lee, which is expected to ship by the end of February, 2012.  There is a Deluxe edition of 800 copies signed by Stephen and Jae Lee but orders are open first to those who had previously ordered a signed and numbered edition of The Little Sisters of Eluria below #801 and who still own their copy.  If there are any copies remaining approximately 6 weeks after the Deluxe Edition is shipped, they will do a lottery drawing for those copies.

In addition to the Deluxe Edition, there are 5,000 copies of the Artist Edition signed by Jae Lee only and orders will be open to anyone for those editions.

Dark Score Stories Giveaway

A&E has launched an online narrative prequel to Bag of Bones, a two-night television event. Dark Score Stories explores the setting and characters of Bag of Bones through a series of eerie, animated images and striking black-and-white stills. Characters from the miniseries (including those played by Pierce Brosnan, Annabeth Gish and Melissa George) come to life in seven photojournalism essays with exclusive audio commentary.

The photography is by award-winning Danish photojournalist Joachim Ladefoged, whose work has previously appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Newsweek and TIME — and now in a companion coffee table book.

Ghost Brothers Casting News

The producers of Ghost Brothers of Darkland County have announced the first round of casting for the highly anticipated Atlanta based production.

Emily Skinner, (Billy Elliot) Shuler Hensley (Les Miserable's and Tony Award winner for Oklahoma) and Justin Guarini of American Idol fame have officially joined the cast. Musician Jake La Botz will also work on the production.

Stephen will be doing a book signing on December 14 starting at 7PM at Walmart Store #4436, 5455 Atlanta Hwy., Alpharetta, GA 30004.

Walmart will be distributing 400 guaranteed and 200 non-guaranteed wristbands beginning at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, December 14th. If there is time after the 400 guaranteed wristbands have gone through the line, the 200 non-guaranteed line will begin. Limit 1 signed book per person.

Dr. Sleep In The Works (UPDATED)

It's now official--Stephen is working on Dr. Sleep, the sequel to The Shining.  This weekend Steve read an excerpt from this at his appearance at George Mason University.  They have given us permission to post their taping of the event here on Steve's site which we will do as soon as we receive the file.  Dr. Sleep's plot includes a traveling group of vampires called The Tribe which is part of the passage he read from.

Turner Classic Movies Presents

As part of its "Night at the Movies" series, Turner Classic Movies will air a new documentary featuring Stephen discussing films that have influenced his creativity the most. Titled "The Horrors of Stephen King," the DreamWorks Television production will premier on October 3rd at 8pm. Topics will include everything from the staple vampire and zombie films of yesteryear to progressive stories of horror, demons and ghosts.

Bag of Bones Coming to A&E

Sony Pictures Television and A&E will be airing a four hour mini-series based on Bag of Bones later this year. Filming of the series is set to begin early next month in Nova Scotia and will feature Pierce Brosnan in the lead role with Annabeth Gish supporting.  Mick Garris will direct the production from a screenplay written by Matt Venne.

Update: Jason Priestley has signed on to play Mike Noonan's Literary Agent.

Version III of StephenKing.com Goes Live

Earlier today, StephenKing.com proudly unveiled the latest version of the official web site. The comprehensive upgrade offers many new features including full compatibility with Apple devices and most mobile platforms.
 
At the core of the new experience, the Constant Browser will find a revolutionary homepage that offers all the latest news, release info, and Coming Soon content in one central location. We have also provided new RSS and Twitter News feeds to make it easier to stay abreast of everything Stephen King.
 
With improved search capabilities, an upgraded library and dozens of other significant improvements, the new StephenKing.com is a vast digital playground that looks to the future of Stephen's work.
 
The old site is still available here, but the content will no longer be updated.

Under the Weather

Stephen's new short story, "Under the Weather" (written just in the past month or two) will be included in the U.S. paperback edition and as a new e-book edition of Full Dark, No Stars which will be released on May 24, 2011.  It will be in Hodder's ebook edition releasing on May 24th and their mass-market edition which will be released at the end of July.

11/22/63 Hardcover Dust Jacket Revealed

Atlantic Interview

Atlantic Magazine has posted an interview with Stephen regarding Herman Wouk is Still Alive, the creative process and the state of fiction in general. The short story Herman Wouk is Still Alive is now available to subscribers of the TheAtlantic.com. The issue containing this short story hits newsstands April 19th.

The next book titled 11/22/63 (864 pages) due to be published on November 8th by Scribner and Hodder & Stoughton is the story of a man who travels back in time to prevent the JFK assassination.

Stephen to receive the 2011 Mason Award

Stephen has been selected as the 2011 recipient of the Mason Award from the Fall for the Book Festival at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.   He will be presented the award at a ceremony on September 23, 2011 and will be speaking and/or reading for approximately 30-45 minutes.  Details regarding the speech and a possible signing to follow are still being negotiated.  More information, including how to secure tickets for the event, will be posted on fallforthebook.org
