Got relatives with this accent. Did someone here mention or did I read this somewhere else? We are in danger of losing these dialects because people aren't as isolated as they once were and it's being diluted. You think this is true?
I think that's definitely true. People aren't living in one place (especially small towns) for their whole life anymore. Television and a mostly homogenized, cultured sound has influenced America (and other places) and the nuances of speech is not as readily heard. In Alabama, though, we still have several varieties of country dialects.

....I’m not a good one to comment, because broadcasting has made me careful of regionalisms and accents...drilled in early on to be homogenous, so we could work anywhere in the country....now, if I’m amongst friends I don’t worry and just go ahead and sound like an in-bred ninny....

Check out this guy's channel. He's a fellow Constant Reader and does in-depth book reviews, book ratings, and other King-related videos. You will find videos on other horror novelists, too, like Dean Koontz.

I've been pronouncing Lisey's Story all wrong? I was saying Lisssee, not Leesy.
I like that guy in the video. Thankya.
