Great sportsmanship for the baseball loving kids to be viewing when they go to their next peewee game.
"Unwritten rules" of the game.
You spike someone, you're gonna get drilled. Nothing wrong with protecting your teammates.
Well now see - I've been a second baseman (softball) all during my childhood. Probably over 10 years. Our catcher could fire a ball into my outstretched glove to catch anyone trying to steal second. ouch.
These pitchers were wicked good and sometimes scary. I was a bunter and runner.
Then in an adult team. We never had the need to fight with the other team or 'unwritten rules' Sportsmanship.
I never spiked anyone. Good throws and good low catches. Tagged them.
With my blue glove that I treasured, oiled and wrapped with a ball in it, and a rubber band off season.
...yep, that deserves a good old ass whuppin’....By "spike" I mean a baserunner sliding into a defensive player with the spikes on their shoes up to intentionally strike the defensive player.
