That would definitely guarantee no one EVER asking me to make a cake again! ;-D

I only ever started doing them for my kids, because my mom always made us special cakes for our birthdays. But then it was cakes for nephews and nieces and baby showers and and and...which I still didn't mind because it was for family. But, while I truly appreciate family members suggesting me to other people for events, I just don't want to be making and decorating cakes all the time. I even turned down a local party supply store, they wanted my name and number to pass out to customers after they saw one of my cakes in a picture. I said thank you but no thanks. I do appreciate the thought and probably could make a little $$$, I just don't want to.
I understand that. When we do something for fun and the love and it turns into a job--it takes all that good energy away.

I tell you what though, I do think I will try one of those topsy-turvy cakes for Ali's next birthday. She would LOVE it. Not til December though so have lots of time. And I am very much looking forward to making Riddik's 1st birthday cake! (Not to rush it though, I am enjoying his babyhood! :D)

*waits for Cat to post what MIL said about why she isn't making the cake* Cat's adventures are much more interesting than the Kardashians lol

I was looking at images for Alice in Wonderland. Do any of y'all remember paper dolls/cut-out dolls? They were popular BB (before Barbie). Alice in Wonderland has gone steampunk! :)

:biggrin-new: Sorry, I haven't talked to her!! Been a crazy few days around here. I'll try to catch her this weekend sometime! They may even be over at some point, they were just waiting on hubby's night shifts to be done. But then again, we have snow in the forecast so they probably won't drive up.

I hope you talk to her soon... This is like waiting for the next Walking Dead episode, except your story is more suspenseful lol. What's the date of the wedding? If the bride changes her mind and begs you to make the cake, will you?

It is the 1st, so coming up pretty quick. I would need a few days warning but I'm not holding my breath. ;-D I don't think it's going to be a big fancy to-do, but a pretty informal type wedding. Maybe I should feel guilty? But, I really don't. :glee:

I liked paperdolls - I liked the cutting out or punching out and picking outfits, but after I got that done, I lost interest. I keep meaning to post an interesting craft I did recently. Maybe I'll take a photo and upload it later this morning - it's actually at work.

Yes! Take a photo :) When I was a kid, I wanted to be a dress designer so I used to make clothes for my paper dolls.

Barbies were totally my thing.

Mine was the Ginny doll. used to save up allowance so I could buy new outfits.
