His and Nicole Kidman roles made me want to go take a shower afterwards and not in a good way. I felt so dirty watching the two of them, especially the scene where they first meet in the prison- just out and out gross!

    I'm a happy Garriga :)

I love the fact that Cusack and Jackson both are gonna be in Cell. They're two of my favorites actors, and more importantly they're major stars. Their box-office pull is huge, which means more people being more exposed to sK. Lots of people who'll see the movie will have no idea it's based on an sK story (please see Shawshank, Green Mile, etc).

Filming is now under way in Atlanta. Isabelle Fuhrman from The Hunger Games is Alice and Stacy Keach plays the headmaster. I'm not sure if they'll keep his name as in the book, where he is Charles Ardai, who runs Hard Case Crime!

Charles Ardai tells me (via Twitter): "the movie will use my name and I'm thrilled about it. Keach even has some of my rugged good looks."

    Is Tom still gay?

What I really liked was in the book we are aware he is gay and it doesn't matter. He is a good guy, but mostly he's human....and humane.

There are very few gay characters like that, and I think it's horrible he suddenly is some ex-militia or whatever.

I get that changes get made between and book and a movie. But that was a character so many young kids could see themselves in, in a world where very few movie characters fit that part.

Samuel L. Jackson said after he accepted the part that he didn't know that the character was gay in the book.

John Cusack posted a photo from the set on his Twitter account yesterday. Warning -- it's a bit gruesome:

I hold no grudge against Jackson. He is a great actor and I'm sure he'll do great in the part as it's written. I'm just really disappointed that it was written the way it was.

I did not know you could decide to change from gay to straight - is this an option? (seriously I thought you knew you were gay when you were young - honestly)

I think she means Tom from the book.

In the book he was gay. It was not a big deal and not important to the story. But I don't think he is in the movie.

I find it very disappointing that the character would be rewritten because it was someone young gay people could identify with, because he was a good guy who happened to be gay, and it wasn't what his character is about.

    I don't think I'm making sense.

    GNTLGNT The idiot is IN

...no, you're making perfect sense....in the book, it was just part of his back-story...his sexual preference didn't define him-to me, it was akin to referring to his hair color, or the fact he wore jeans...just a portion of the whole man...

Okay - thanks - I forgot about Tom in the book - thanks for the reminder!

Obviously, Sam Jackson didn't read the book, or he would have gotten the hints! :)

Maybe so, but even if that's the case he obviously didn't READ the book first! :)

OK guys so sorry very slightly off thread you had going on here, but I was muchos excited about Cell as a movie, as I personally feel the book has huge potential. We have got an epic story, it is modern and adaptable to today's culture and contains well written, filled characters IMHO anyways .... until...... this guy; King - IMDb .

I am really hoping this is just a teensy bit part, maybe he is like a picture of a dead person someone is looking for or maybe a bit at the beginning where he is getting mauled to death by a phone infected weightlifter perhaps???, (oh and that I don't get told off by admin for a link?!?!? If its a prob please remove the link and just put the name *ahem "KING" yes it is just the one word hmmmmm!!! ;) )

However please let me explain, as I do have my reasons for this dislike ;) , Here we have a guy that pads his IMDB profile himself, clearly can't act in any of HIS posted videos & *errrrm "music" links, updates his profile with such titles as "production assistant - as Algenard Herring" and the rest are all "uncredited," he writes random nonsense on the message board pretending to be others saying how great he is, how misunderstood he is and how the world just isn't ready for his "talent".

Now this person is directly listed under Cusac & Jackson in the movie blurb!!! I have no problems at all with an unknown, I have a real problem with people that are hyped by themselves for nothing and have total self belief in how completely amazing they are without a shred of proof or talent! The people that just think they are wonderful despite everyone telling them that they aint all that and a bag of chips and maybe in need of some "help"! Every pic he has posted has been of himself behind/in front/poking round a corner of a "real" actor/actress or sometimes a clear "selfie" and is just a laughing stock all over the web.I would be devastated to set my OH down for another SK film, just so he can giggle his way through it and miss the point because he is too busy laughing at this guy :( I love the true King as most on here know, and I am really, truly hoping that this "actor" will not be spoiling what could be an amazing film! Anyways I have had my minute or 2 so.... RANT OVER ha ha ha ha, pleasant days, long nights & as always true KINGS xx
