Tery, your sci-fi tree is completely bad ass ma'am.

I collected Hallmark Star Trek ornaments for years, all the different ships from Star Trek. My ex-wife never wanted them on the tree, said it made it look tacky. We were married for 21 years and almost every year I bought whichever new ships they put out. Had just about every version of the enterprise, Borg Cube, The Defiant, DS9. So, couple of years ago my son and I weren't feeling real Christmas-y from everything that had happened. I was going thru the decorations, tons of them, and found my large box where I stored all my Star Trek ornaments. I had bought a 3 foot tree for us to put up just to have something to put up, but we started getting all those ships out and had a really good time hanging them up. The tree was completely covered in lights and Star Trek ornaments and really looked cool, it was a true "sci-fi" tree....then like two guys we didn't take any pictures of it, just admired it and put presents underneath...lol but it definitely made Christmas a little better that year. Now I'm comfortably back to actively complaining that the tree we have is too large and a pain in the arse to assemble, etc, etc. But the cool thing is Tamara has dedicated a section of the tree to my Star Trek ornaments:)
That sounds perfect! I wish you had pictures but you have memories. Please share a picture of your Trek section! :)

For DJ and Neesy. Note: Grape and strawberry jams are the best. All others are meh, IMO. I've always wanted to try blue raspberry, but Sunny won't give up where she gets her secret stash. :)

Thumbprint Cookies
Makes 2 dozen cookies

INGREDIENTS
1 cup of butter (2 sticks or 8 ounces), room temperature
1/2 cup of sugar
2 eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
2 cups of flour
3/4 cup of your favorite jam
Parchment paper

BAKING
1 Beat the butter and sugar on high speed with an electric mixer for about 3 minutes.
2 Separate the eggs. Add the yolks and vanilla extract to the butter mixture.
3 Add the flour and salt. Mix until just combined. Place the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes and preheat the oven to 350F.
4 Roll the dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place the balls on parchment lined cookie sheets.
5 Press down with your thumb to make a small well in the center of the cookie. Do not press too hard or the cookie will fall apart. Fill with 1/2 teaspoon of jam.
6 Bake for 12-15 minutes or until slightly firm. Allow to cool for a few minutes on the cookie sheet to firm up before moving them to a wire rack to finish cooling.

My Wife walked down the aisle to the Voyager theme song played by a String Quartet. Wasn't expecting that at all!

That's awesome. I got to watch a Klingon wedding at a Star Trek convention I was at several years ago, it was pretty cool. Both the bride and groom spoke fluent Klingon......
Most of ones I have makes sounds or have a button where you can activate the lights or "lasers". The Borg Cube is really cool, when you push the button it says "Resistance is Futile." I haven't collected them in a few years now but they may still have the series going at Hallmark.

Thank you ma'am. Those are definitely the ones I have. I think my favorite overall is the Romulan Warbird. It's very cool looking and has green lights that light up. The Enterprise "E" from First Contact I didn't see on the list but I like that one a lot too. Maybe I should start buying these again..lol.

Sounds an awful lot like my recipe but the only difference is we use the egg white - you roll the balls in the egg white then roll them in finely chopped walnuts. Then you put the thumbprint in them.

Thanks!

Try the mixed berry jam - it's good too:butterfly:

Oh yeah - and we wait until after they're cooked to put the jam in them, so when they come out of the oven you might have to push some of the thumbprints down a bit to make room.

The Borg are the best thing about Star Trek! I'm gonna have to start a collection.

I like the jam baked with the cookie. That little bit of hardness to the filling is what makes them really tasty. And nuts never belong in a cookie... EVER! ;):)

I'll mail you some - send me your address!

Of course they could be stale by the time they get there, thanks to Canada Post :rapture::cool2:

By the way, which cookies are YOUR favourite? (I guess you call them 'biscuits' over there?)

Ah sure send them by express and they'll be nice and chewy! I can only imagine Canada Post is on the same level as Irish post. Very relaxed.

Can't go wrong with a freshly baked white chocolate chip cookie.

How are we all doing for shopping? I am doing o.k. I will go on a hunt for moms chapstick. This is hunt #3. I am going to a few stores in my nebourhood tomsee if they sell them, they do according to their website. Just a FYI if you are looking for seasonal decorations know is the time to get them. Stores are running out of merchandise and may not get any more back in stock. At least that is what it is like at crate and barrel. They don’t whant a whole bunch of stuff left over from Christmas.
