I'm like Stephen King... thanks but no thanks. I have one daughter that is a politician and another in college that plans on becoming a politician. I'll let them run the country... they'll do a far better job than I could. The daughter that is a politician is scrambling right now as her city has no disaster plan in place to deal with something like this and she's just winging it.

I had a husband and wife come into the home improvement center last evening. They both work at a hospital and were given orders they need to wear protective eyewear and masks all day at the hospital. The problem was both of them wore eyeglasses and the hospital didn’t have protective eyewear to accommodate glasses, and they had spent all evening looking for goggles that fit over glasses, or over-glasses protective eyewear. Nobody had any and we had none. Inventory said we did have 1 over-glasses protective eyewear and I found the empty package... seems someone stole it. Also, they said they are only given one mask per day to wear all day. And that one mask is useless for a 9-12 hour shift. This morning I found my over-glasses protective eyewear and will be taking it into the home improvement center this evening to give to a healthcare provider if another comes in looking for them. I can always get another pair later.
That's our Dio! :)

So, I did an essay on populism a while ago. One of the figures I focused on, I'm sure the Americans will know him, was Ross Perot. Perot was basically the most successful third party candidate, a Texas busisnessman and common sense politician. If he was in charge at the moment, I have no doubts that the US would be in a better position.

Sorry to hear that, Sunny. I understand caution but do these governors realize so many people won't have businesses to come back to after it is all over as they'll be out of business by these long-term draconian measures? What... People aren't smart enough to wear gloves and masks and use hand sanatizer if they work?

You could try applying at one of the two big national home improvement centers, temporarily, until you're back open for business again. They're open and in desperate need of staff right now... especially seasonal staff.
Dead people don't buy things = out of business too.

Oh, I'm chill as f*ck man.

I saw a meme? comment? about this.

Our grandparents and parents were called to war and served.
We are called to do our part and asked to sit on our couches, binge watch Better Call Saul, eat junk food and take naps.
Don't blow it.

I was doing a job at a local hospital Saturday and the hospital is big for my county, it has 7 floors. I found out that it has 250 beds, which doesn't seem like a lot when thinking about a surge of patients. I started doing math in my head about how many hospitals were close to me (and of course like every other hospital, they are full even when there is no pandemic going on) and how many beds that was and I realized how easily the hospitals could be overwhelmed. I looked up on wikipedia the number of beds per capita in the US and it's 2.77 (South Korea has 12.2, Japan has 13 and Italy has 3.18). The US was 32 on the list. So, for every 1,000 people that get the virus, if only 1% have to be hospitalized I can see how that would overwhelm us. If more than 1% have to be hospitalized, it could be a castasrophe considering that our hospitals are full without corona patients.

Screw the memes. Don't watch Saul or take naps, but I do eat junk food (it's about the only take-out you can get at the moment). When I get COVID19 (we’re all gonna contract it eventually) I’ll use the cocktail of Hydroxychloroquine & Azithromycin if a cure hasn’t been found by then. The combinations of these two drugs, so far, appears to have tremendous success.

Why get it in the first place to have to treat with dangerous medicines that have their own side effects? Why purposely poison your body when there is a chance to stop it?

We just give up? We don't even try to stop it? That's a pretty un American thing. Give up. Let the enemy win. Fly that white flag with pride.

Ireland is only short of lockdown. Schools are closed until at least after Easter. McDonalds is closed. Essential services are running, but self distancing is strongly advised and hand sanitizing as well. Hair dressers as well. Grocery stores are open, but there is not as much hoarding as some places. Stay safe my friends.

Those drugs have been out for decades.

What white flag? What are you going on about? Nothing will stop it... NOTHING! Selective social distancing make sense early on until a cure, or something that works out of what is already out there, is utilized. At some point all this shutdown stuff will need to end or the economy will collapse… and we’re soon approaching it. A stand must me made. I think the states that recommend social distancing should be utilized, work from home if you can, and encourage companies that need to stay open do what they can is the best tactic.

Of course they've been out for decades. What's that got to do with the fact that they are dangerous and carry their own side effects? Why purposely poison your own body with them if you don't have to?

So, sigh, we're all going to get it, sigh, so might as well just take the meds, do what we want to do. Forget about stepping up to sacrifice for the greater good. the greater good. Forget about doing our part. Fight for a cause that benefits the world.

We want what we want and we want it now. stomp stomp stomp.

I do agree with you that a new way of business can be done without shutting everything completely. But there are still high risk buinesses that just can't be open at this time, to protect everyone. We are an embarrassment to the tough, greatest generation that fought hard for us. Lazy, selfish, entitled.

The only thing that has slowed this down in countries where they have had the most deaths has been closing things down. Failure to recognize and accept this is what will continue to see the infections rise exponentially. That's the stand that needs to be made. Make sacrifices for a shorter amount of time or see this take over completely. And maybe let the scientists and medical experts who actually know a thing or two be the ones to lead press conferences rather than politicians who are throwing out incorrect and/or anecdotal "evidence" and thereby continue to make public statements that are confusing and misinforming the public.

This is becoming a hot topic so let's not continue to go there or this thread will be shut down.
