Lesson learned. Unless YOU initiate a call to either your PC's help line or your Norton anti-virus help line, NEVER call a random phone number that pops up on your computer screen or give out ANY information over the phone should these creeps call you.Guess what? It popped up again! Task manager doesn't get rid of it, I've tried several times.
If I go to Microsoft Edge from my desktop, it pops up. If I go to Microsoft Edge from my taskbar, or from the start up menu, it is not there. Very weird.
Yeah, I think I got took.
The worm was called Koobface.
Edit to add: Furthermore, I never answer the phone any more Land line or cell phone). I depend on caller ID. If I know the caller, I answer, otherwise I let it go to VM. If it is truly is important, your REAL credit card company, phone service provider, etc. will leave a message with a legitimate # to call which you then can verify through asking THEM for information. This may seem cybnical, but that's the society in which we live these days. Too many con artists and way too many ways for them to work their cons.
