What's particularly interesting to me in the casting is they put someone to play Flagg who would have done just as well playing Roland himself. Really interesting move there.

From what I've read so far, the movie begins around the time where Jake is introduced in New York and then goes from there. I still don't understand how, with Game of Thrones coming to an end in a year or two, HBO didn't see fit to option this property as a TV series. Ah, well.

To be honest, I haven't followed the development of all this too closely, but is the film supposed to take place after the end of the book series? I thought I read something about a King comment being interpreted in that manner.

I like how Marsha put it - what if this is a totally different when or level of the tower. For personality reasons, I can't see MM as Roland. Can February get here already? I'm just dying to see it. I wonder if it's going to be 3 hours long - with an intermission? That would be cool. Even when they're not good screen adaptations of the novels, I enjoy the SK books-turned-movies. It makes me feel like I know a secret that those who just watch the movie will never understand. We're Constant Readers .

There should be some sort of Kon meet-up to watch this movie. Tomatoes not allowed in the theatre. Nor is the shouting of the word "No!" (or other profanity)

We could all hold hands. And cringe at certain parts and KNOW.

It is forbidden to hiss at everyone else around you to, "Read the books!"

Ooooch... What a discussion that would be had afterword.

Hey, we might be dancing - no one knows. Let's have hope. (I guess)

Well, I just don't know what's up with the extra long sleeves on both the man in black and the gunslinger, as seen in their pics from the shooting in NYC these past days. Idris's do not look that bad, but MM's I think they do.

Hmmm, While I like Idris Elba as an actor I can't say I'm excited about the casting for this movie. I've read the entire Dark Tower Series and outside of Jackie Earl Haley, I'm not too excited about the casting. I've always imagined Roland more of a Clint Eastwood or Josh Brolin type. As for Randall Flagg, Christopher Walken...maybe Tony Todd...not necessarily Matthew McConaughey, I can't see him being foreboding enough.

With that said, I will still go see the movie. I'm curious to see how they fit all of important points in the novel into a hour or hour and half long movie.

So, I'm a huge fan of the British comedy show 'Absolutely Fabulous'. I was watching an episode called 'Sex'. It's about Patsy and Eddie (the two female middle-aged single stars) and they decided to hire a couple of male prostitutes and 'make a night of it'. One of the pro's turned out to be a very young Edris Alba. His character's name is 'Hilton'. Even back then he has an intense feel to him.

Sure do.

What they are shooting in NYC and who's there - and especially who is NOT there - is most intriguing...
