Time for the mock draft... first five spots?
1. Cleveland Browns: Josh Allen, QB
2. New York Giants: Saquon Barkley, RB or Sam Darnold, QB
3. New York Jets: Baker Mayfield, QB
4. Cleveland Browns: Saquon Barkley, RB if he is available, if not the Browns will trade the 4 spot with the Buffalo Bills who will take Sam Darnold, QB
5. Denver Broncos: Bradley Chubb, DE/LB

I’m happy with the Jets pick of Sam Darnold, but my only fear at this point is a possible repeat of Mark Sanchez. Sanchez’s undoing was his failure to protect the ball and turnovers. That is the concern also of Darnold.
I don’t get the Browns picking Baker Mayfield at number one. They could have gone with Saquon Barkley at the number one spot and had at least 2 of the 4 top rated quarterbacks available to them at the fourth spot. A quality RB is a QB's best friend, and Barkley was a can’t-miss prospect. All of the four top rated QB’s have know flaws. I know the new rational seems to be you don’t waist the number one pick on a running back who might last 10 years in the league. But to pass up someone the experts say has the potential to give you 2,000 combined running and catching yards for a hit-or-miss QB, and you would have gotten a good QB at the forth pick, doesn’t make sense to me.

I got a kick out of the Philadelphia Eagles using their final pick in draft to get a humongous rugby player from Australia who never played a single game of American football. At 6-foot-8 and 346 pounds Jordan Mailata is a beast. He sure would be fun to watch in the NFL.

One of those sequences was like the first time I saw Earl Campbell in a game. The Oilers were playing the LA Rams, and Campbell was carrying the football. He knocked a Ram DB back about five yards and out of the play, and kept on running.
He was so much fun to watch. One of the first players that really made me like watching football.
In my small town where I went to high school I played on the football team. I didn’t play much being a scrawny kid weighing in at 135 pounds, at most. I was used mostly as a tackling dummy and sacrificial lamb for practices. Our football team was horrible. Our quarterback was legally blind. We didn’t throw the ball much, which is why they made me a wide receiver. The only saving grace for our team was a beast of a running back. He only ran downhill and drew on his power to get yardage. It would take 2-3 guys to get him to the ground. One practice our linebacker was out. I played cornerback on defense but the coach moved me to linebacker for the day. My job was to try and tackle the beast. The first 3 or 4 plays he ran me over like a freight train. So I thought to myself there was no way I could tackle this guy down and my only hope was to throw a cross block just below his knees and trip him up (that was legal at the time). It worked. I took him down about 4 times in a row. After the fourth time he was so aggravated he spiked me in the chest. I could barley breath but I got up and jumped on his back throwing a couple of punches. He threw me down like a dishrag, but the coach was impressed. Coach pulled me over and thanked me for the aggressiveness and for displaying a flaw in Billy’s running style that they had to work on. He said I would be playing in the next game. I started the next game. First play was a 10-yard pass to me and I dislocated my thumb catching the ball. The doctor came over and reset the thumb, taped it up, and I was back in the game. I lasted about half a quarter until it was apparent I was useless in the game. I was a much better bench warmer than a player, but played just enough to letter.

I'm afraid football as we know it is gone for good. I think I'd rather see a weight limit than all of this stuff. The penalties that this rule is going to cause is going to make the games unwatchable.
