One of the apple trees in the back yard has blossoms, first time, maybe a dozen or so. The other tree is loaded, same as last year. A third tree passed some time ago, but this second now in blossom almost...or did...was...crushed one winter, roots sent up new growth and between trying to keep the rabbits and the snow from killing it, I'm happy to see blossoms. Wish I could remember what brand of apple it will be. Find out come September October. Might put in more of the garden tomorrow or Monday. Lumberyards will be closed so reason-enough not to work. Have a bunch of cucumber starts inside, 12 maybe? Usually I'd just plant from seed and have good results. This spring is a bit closer to "normal" though we're still about a week behind that...but the two previous springs we were way behind, weather and ground didn't warm up until into June. Heh! I did see a patch of snow yesterday...course all it was was a lump of black crap/sand road sand covering some stubborn snow hiding below.

Yesterday was my granddaughter's 2nd birthday. It was a bit hot outside, but overal a beautiful day for a yard party.

Both kids were so good, and both loved all the presents.

She doesn't normally like hats, but we gave her a Sheriff Callie hat and she loved it, kept it on the rest of the day. (We gave her other stuff too.)

I have two things I'm happy about.

Today I had a visit with a little 17 day old. Can anyone ever get enough baby snuggles?

The other thing is my son. He's been a bit cranky, but the last few days he's been playing his guitar. And one of the songs he's playing is Closer to the Heart.

And...shhhhh....I caught him.

He was playing a song and I could hear singing. That's not common while he's playing. So I listened close....it was him singing. I don't know why he will not sing. He's actually quite good. He's done solos on stage. He's not to nervous to do that....but won't sing in front if a small audience.

That's a great song to mess around with. Aside from the intro -- which is a bit tricky -- it's only 3 chords. Don't know about your son but I find it difficult to play and sing at the same time. Which is another reason why this song is great practice. Give him a thumbs-up from me ;)

It's the intro he's been working on. He starts by slowing it down, then when he's got it, he'll bring it up to speed.

He doesn't regularly sing and play at the same time. (And he does not sing Geddy Lee, lol. He's got a very deep voice when he sings.) It was a different son that I didn't recognize that he was singing.

And to think....it all started with Guitar Hero. Everyone told me to not allow him to play that game if he wanted to learn a real guitar. I ignored them. I'm glad I did.

That is fantastic! I hope it leads to more kids picking up the real thing. Oh, and slowing it down is the only way to get it. ;)

I am happy today because EoW comes out tomorrow! AND I have money left on a B&N gift card from a Christmas gift! (Might not start reading it right away because I'm still not finished with The Fireman. :a11: But at least I'll have a copy in my grubby little hands! ;-D )
Enjoy them both. The Fireman was a good book!
