Lucky me. This morning I was diagnosed with having Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN), a form of neuropathic pain that can last for months or years after the shingles virus is no longer active. Daily, severe pain that may last a lifetime… Yipee! I’m a real joy to be around these days… NOT! :(
Had shingles in 2013 - I do notice a difference on my left side now - it got me in the left hip - wishing you best of luck that it does not last forever ((((dio)))))

Hey Dio - how's that postherpetic pain coming along? When I had shingles I used a capsaicin cream - it burned a bit but seemed to draw out the nerve pain in my hip - might be too late for you to do this, but maybe it's worth a try. It's an over the counter cream you should be able to buy at any drug store.

Just don't apply it to inflamed or open skin, or it will hurt like h*ll!

Thanks. Still loads of pain. Taking one Gabapentin tablet in the morning and three before bedtime to get some sleep. Also taking B-Complex and lots of Advil. I’ll look into that capsaicin cream for relief.

Not to sound like a couple of old codgers but this past weekend I had swelling in my right lower leg and could not go see my doctor at the walk-in clinic because he decided to take Friday off!

Think I will go today to see if he can figure out the cause - my leg muscle feels hard and the skin is tight due to the edema - this has been three days now and it's starting to get on my nerves. If I sit with my leg raised higher than my heart for about an hour that relieves the pressure.

Hope all goes well.

Thanks :) (I've resorted to wearing some compression stockings I dug out of my drawer - I used to wear them when I was sitting for eight hours a day when I was still a medical transcriptionist)

Not sure what is going on with our TV this morning - our usual morning crew is not there! I wonder what happened? My son thinks it's something to do with the election going on south of us, but I don't see the connection.
