Thanks everyone for all well wishes. They filled her up with various tube juices, made her rest, and she was released yesterday. I have her in my clutches now. It was very surreal when it happened. While eating a nice dinner I heard this big bang in the other room like someone dropped a 100 lb. bag of potatoes. I questioned it and continued to eat my dinner while watching a TV program. I then heard some weak moaning and it bugged me so I turned the volume up on the T.V. Eventually, when I called out to have my plate removed, there was no answer. I had to watch my next 2 T.V. programs with the used dinner plate sitting on the table. It was disgusting. I finally had to go to the bathroom and there she was...I then immediately sprang into immediate action immediately! :p
You and your sense of humor!

I hope she is feeling better. Scary stuff.

Lucky me. This morning I was diagnosed with having Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN), a form of neuropathic pain that can last for months or years after the shingles virus is no longer active. Daily, severe pain that may last a lifetime… Yipee! I’m a real joy to be around these days… NOT! :(

Liked your post to acknowledge reading it, not diagnosis. Not sure if you are open to homeopathic ways. If so, you might find the link useful. In the meantime, manifesting less pain, healing and only positive vibes.

So sorry to hear. Hopefully they can manage your pain effectively.

Thanks. I’ll look into it. First I’ll go the route the doctor prescribes. I get a follow up in two weeks. I think I can live with the pain as long as I can get some sleep at nights… which is my elusive butterfly right now. Lost 10 pounds in a week and the blood pressure is pretty high.

Thank you. I told the doctor I don't want any more Oxycontin prescribed to me as I don’t want to become addicted. I’ve now been prescribed something else, non-habit forming, to reduce the pain and also causes drowsiness. Have to load up and take three pills at night. Sleep... my kingdom for sleep!

....my father suffers from this as well-though he has achieved some relief in the last couple of years....I wish I had an answer old buddy, but neurological issues are always tricky, and painful as you well know......maybe one of these will give some relief....
  • Amitriptyline
  • Capsaicin cream and patch
  • Gabapentin
  • Lidoderm cream and patch
  • NSAIDs
  • Opioids
  • Pregabalin
  • Tramadol

Thanks. I'll look into the creams and patches for relief during the daytime. But no more opioids for me.

....I understand the reluctance, but the other alternatives are non-addictive, however-you may want to ask your Doc about Qutenza-a prescription capsaicin formula....not sure if it's still on the market......

Thank you. I will ask the doctor about that at my follow up visit. The doctor told me they don't know why some people develop PHN with the shingles, but there is a school of thought that theorizes a few times over decades the strain of chicken pox is rather nasty... and there might be a correlation between that strain of chicken pox and PHN when shingles breaks out. The doctor told me that nasty strain popped up in the mid 60's... and guess when I had the chicken pox!

.....me too......Dad was born in 1928, so that kind of shoots that theory down.....
