This isn't related to the new message board...but still confusing: Earlier this afternoon I had to run a few errands. Coming down Point Mills hill, a black squirrel crossed my path. Does that bring on good luck? Or bad? Or do you think he (she?...you can't tell, not from the side) was trying to kill me? I've seen the commercials. Beavers now...you spare a beaver w/your vehicle and they look out for you, believe you me (I'm channeling Trevanian here, one of his Crazy Ladies of Pearl Street). I didn't hit him (her? so on so forth)...hit the brakes...so maybe I can expect a squirrel to be on hand when the truck falls off the hi-lift jack and pins me underneath?
It's not usually good luck for ME. Squirrels are somewhat trainable. I'm not advising it, just sayin! Someone in my neighbourhood must hand feed them because there is one that would run up to people and hold out something to them. If I'm in the group of people....he would always hold out a peanut to me. Of course it would be me. Another leaves them on MY chair in the yard. Nobody else's seat...just mine.

ummm... well I had to be back to work on Monday .... actually we went on our first date as a married couple tonight ..... we are enjoying our honeymoon (M-O-O-N that spells honeymoon) ... at home ...
congratulations.

I must have missed posts about the wedding. I hope everything went wonderfully, and I wish you both happiness.

Where did you get your avatar?
She probably saved it to her computer and uploaded from there. (You can pretty much use what you like, it just has to be saved to your machine before uploading here. Go to Avatar in the drop-down menu that appears when you hover over your username--top right of page and follow the prompts.)

I have to say that on the previous board, I was pretty excited to achieve "Prolific Member"...I probably even puffed out my chest a little about it. And I will admit that I was a bit sad to see it gone. However, being able to choose your own "member title" really personalizes things. I am so enjoying reading what others are choosing...and so happy to have collaborated with pets to come up with our titles. I think the retirement of the automatic "ranking" of members will turn out to be a good thing, taking away any hint of "competition".

This board will do I suppose (its not like we any other choice) but I like the other one so much better. Still, its only what, my third day on the new one? Perhaps it will grow on me. But so far, the vibe just isn't the same. :(

I think we are missing a lot of people (or so it seems) - perhaps it was such a shock it will take a while before people start coming around again (we can hope!):tongue-new:

It does seem like we are. I think things will get back to normal soon. I hope so, anyways. Does anyone know why the change was made?
vBulletin (the last board) had been throwing up a lot of problems with each new upgrade and it was going to get worse. This new board (XenForo) has a lot less issues behind the scenes and has more promise with future upgrades. (Something you can't avoid--the software is ever changing and you need to have a bit of foresight when you're choosing which one to go with. Jordan has spent a long time making sure he's got it right.)

The thing to remember is that the staff at StephenKing.com will never make unnecessary changes, there will always be a reason... and the fact is, thanks to Stephen, (and others) we're gifted this incredible resource, a simply fantastic place to hang out--I'll say it once again, the success of the SKMB is largely about the people... it's up to us to make it an enjoyable experience.
Have faith... in time, it will feel more and more like home.
