Maybe it'll be in the director's cut......
saw someone who really was disappointed that there was no BJ reference with the leper. considering the whole point of the leper to begin with was eddie's hypochondria it seemed like a strange thing to focus on.
Maybe it'll be in the director's cut......
The board is getting A LOT of traffic tonight in the thread

"Beep beep, Richie" made sense just fine in the TV adaptation. Couldn't have hurt to include it in the new movie. Both readers and the unfamiliar would have gotten a kick out of it.the beep beep and the turtle references are the standard nods to the novel for the readers, stuff that wouldn't make any sense to anyone else. i mean what are the odds that the inclusion of "beep beep" would have made a lot of sense just because the losers said it? it's kind of a random phrase.

I agree -it was excellent !!I Loved "IT"
Nothing about this movie disappointed me.
Because the dominate purpose of the story is that "IT" is the entity of fear , I was not upset that some of this kids fears manifested differently in the movie than the book. It was well balanced that some of the dominant and specific fears retaliative to individual kids background story were there such as Bev's fear of her father, Eddies fear of the leper (caused by his home environment of his mothers hypochondria), and Mikes fear of the burned people (Great story merging here, I thought it was a better representation of Mikes fear than being chased by a giant bird; it combined the fear of being burned to death and the fear of being racially victimized as expressed in Derry history of the white supremacist burning attack on the black spot); but when we get to characters such as Ben, Stan, and Richie we get shown more common and cultural fears such as a mummy/zombie (Undead), and creepy demoic painting. Richie's fear in the movie was switched from the focus of werewolf's to a focus on clowns, which works very well for the movies cinematography theme of evil clowns and penny-wise.
The combination of supernatural fears ( Zombies, Mummies, Werewolf, Haunted paintings) and more tangible fears manifested by society ( Bullies, Racist, Sexual Predators) is exquisite.

Overall, I was happy. Penny Wise was amazing and may have been better than the original, which I didn't think could happen. I'm still not sure why they changed it from 1957 to 1988. Also, the beginning felt a little rushed, jumping from Penny Wise scaring each member of the Loser Club with no real continuity. While I know lots of people loved Tozier in the film, he kinda of felt out of place to me. I know he is the goofball and all, but middle schoolers didn't act and talk like he did back then. And as a few others have said, the bullies should have gotten more time and background. However, I still thought the movie was good and am only being a little nitpicky since I read the novel. And everyone I know who hasn't ready the book has loved the movie. My main question is if Henry is really dead since we all know how he plays out in the novel. What did y'all think?

...don't knock it till you've tried it.....It's a sad, sad day for Humanity when someone is disappointed at the lack of a BJ from a leper.
