I also watched "A Dog's Purpose" again, this time with my son. This movie was filmed in Manitoba so it was neat to see places like the Half Moon drive-in restaurant, Lockport (near where Andy used to work when he first came to Canada), and other rural locations.

We have the Fabulous 50s Ford Club and lots of other vintage auto collectors here, so it was nice to see all the movie props.

Justice League (2017)

I been waiting for this movie since I was eight. And it was awful. Every character has the 90's comics sensibility of being 'dark' and driven, aside from Wonder Woman, and after a while it's just boring. None of them had personalities, like say, the fellows in the X-Men movies. Oh. And I've seen Aquaman. I know Aquaman. And that ain't Aquaman! This here is Aquaman!

I don't know what the f--- this guy is trying to pull! There is a planned Aquaman solo movie. :) I may be wrong, but in my opinion the public isn't clamoring for it. My G-d, I hate Ben Affeck as Batman. His costume in this seemed designed to cover his weight. Somebody tell this guy gravy isn't a beverage!

The Open House (2018) netflix original

This is a horror movie that showed up on netflix. Don't watch this unless you want to be completely frustrated. There is no reason given for the events that happen, no motive for the killer and no conclusion. When you start to watch it , it looks promising but by the time you get to the end, you'll be asking, "what did I just watch"?

Hmmm, give me a minute...

(For the record, I don't think he was clinically insane, no. I have some thoughts on this but I won't get into it. However, I think he had an authentic born again experience in prison. I know, they all say this when incarcerated and act like kittens for reporters but I believed him.)

this is getting a bit morbid, but has any one watched that movie about jim jones and jones town, i think it was in like 1979 or 1980? just wondering....

Yes. Love that movie. Powers Boothe as Jim Jones if I remember correctly. I did a research paper in college on Jim Jones. My planned 25-30 page paper turned into something like 50 or so pages due to the subject matter being completely fascinating.

I saw it and thought it was horrifying.

Those poor people.

I remember when it happened - a day before the incident a girl I went to school with had a horrible dream where all these people were going to their deaths, yet they seemed happy. [I guess some were, actually].

She told me about it and then when the story broke on the news it was very surreal.

I may have been thinking about the change in location for the movie as the book was set in NY and the movie is set on an island.

You are right about the dates.

I wonder if it still isn't urban myth. Even though the movie of Jaws was released in the US in June 1975, it was filmed between May 2 and October 6 1974, so BEFORE the DeFeo murders.

The Space Between Us (2017) Gary Oldman (in his worst performance)

I thought I was going to see a sci-fi flick but it turned out to be a teen romance flick instead. This movie is really frustrating because there is actually a good idea for a story but that good idea gets loaded with cheese and every teen romance movie cliche imaginable. The story starts off promising as a baby is born on Mars to an astronaut living on a space station. The mother dies in childbirth and the baby is raised by the other scientists on Mars. He can't leave and go to Earth because there are medical complications from his being born and living in zero gravity. So, after the intro stuff, we fast forward 16 years and meet the teenage martian. So far, this is a story that could be interesting. It goes bad from there. Very bad. He meets an Earth girl online and decides to risk his life and go to Earth to meet her (do I need to go on?). One of the laziest aspects of this story is the science of it. Even though we have people living on Mars and can travel back and forth, nothing on Earth has advanced at all. Life on Earth is just like it is today. The only thing difference is that we travel back and forth to Mars. I give this one 4 pukes. :barf::barf::barf::barf:

This is it: Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones (TV Movie 1980) - IMDb

I thought about watching it, because it is part of Gwendy's Button Box. But I always wonder how accurate these kind of films are, don't they just add a lot to make the story more dramatic?
I remember reading several books on the subject way back when. A few were sensationalized but there were a couple that were very well written. Jim Jones penchant for having people listen to him goes all the way back to when he was a kid, he truly liked to hear the sound of his own voice.

The last movie I watched was about 33 years old. I found "Better Off Dead" on dvd on Amazon for like five bucks. Classic movie. The paperboy stalking Cusack for his two dollars and the Korean that only speaks Howard Cosell are probably my favorite parts.

Lane, I’ve been going to this High School for seven and a half years. I’m no dummy....
