BlackkKlansman (2018) John David Washington

I went to see this Saturday and thought it was excellent. The movie is based on the book by Ron Stallworth about his police investigation of the KKK in Colorado Springs during the 70s. Spike Lee managed to infuse just the right amount bit of humor into this serious story to keep it from getting too heavy handed. The film is set in the 70s and Spike Lee gives a real 70s feel to the look of the film (I'm not talking about the sets but the cinematography). Topher Grace plays David Duke.

The montage at the end of the movie hits like a sledgehammer.

The Woodsman (2004). Man, that was a difficult movie to watch. Just brutal in its honesty. Don't think I've ever seen a movie from this sort of perspective before and I was extremely uncomfortable. It made my skin crawl. Hats off to Kevin Bacon for taking on this role - he was incredibly believable. Kyra Sedgwick was excellent as well.

Found an unopened dvd director's cut of Amadeus. Had never seen it before from start to finish. Man, what a beautiful film! The ending is gut wrenching. To be so blessed with that type of musical ability and to end up as he did. And all because certain people were insanely jealous of his abilities. So sad.

The Final Cut (2004). This is the first Robin Williams movie I've re-watched since he passed on. Very dark (so was World's Greatest Dad IMO). It's always so impressive to see him in dramatic roles. He was so talented. I'm kinda glad I didn't watch one of his funnier movies. Seemed fitting.

I went to see the movie The Meg at the cinema. It got a bit ridiculous in my opinion. Jaws is more scary. Last night I finished watching the movie Basket Case. There's some interviews etc as well. Also looked at some of the special features on The Green Mile (Stephen King gallery)

Haven't heard of it - will be on the lookout! But thanks to you, I've been looking for two years now for a copy of Lansdale's Fender Lizards to read! ;;D

Fender Lizrds must have been a very limited release. I got it from Cemetery Dance as a signed special edition. I just looked on Amazon and there doesn't even appear to be a paperback version. It is available as a kindle.

Three Billboards just got released on dvd a couple months ago. Frances McDormand is in it too.

We re-watched Avengers: Infinity War. The ending was a bit easier to take on our TV. Tones it down (gold star for anyone who gets that reference). It was also easier to take in the wonderful action pieces without craning my neck. When we saw it in the theater we ended up in the second row. Even with those recliners it was difficult to follow everything on that huge screen. You lose a lot of the actual big picture from that viewing point. I was able to catch more dialog this time and loved that Bruce/Hulk was the comic relief, along with Thor and Rocket's back and forth (rabbit - LOL).
