Saw Hereditary over the weekend. Jesus, this movie was effed up. The less you know going in, the better. This is the first film I've seen where I tell my friends who are parents that they should probably skip it. I don't even have kids and it was disturbing to watch (if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about). This movie has drawn comparisons to others such as Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, etc. Funny enough, I've not read anyone who saw what I did: a similarity to one of Stephen King's short stories in Skeleton Crew, which also was recently turned into a movie. I won't mention which one, because it would pretty much spoil a lot of the premise of Hereditary. However, I'd love to discuss this further when more of you have seen it. I have to give this a second watch.

Also: the young actress Milly Shapiro. They need to cast her for the Firestarter remake, pronto.

We went to see Hereditary in the cinema when it was released and left bewildered and asking, WTF?
The strange thing was that the more I thought about it in the following days, the more I realised what had been happening!
I also need to see it again...

1)The Island starring Michael Caine there's a lot of Australian actors in this movie. It has been quite awhile since I've seen this movie, but I'm apt to see it again.
2)Newsfront- which is a fantastic Australian film starring Bill Hunter. Gerard Kennedy is brilliant in it as well. Bill Hunter used to pull beers behind the bar at a pub around the corner to where I lived in Sydney. There's the communist aspect to this movie, but there's other layers to this movie as well. Brilliant use of newsreel footage from the period. It starts with Chico Marx entertaining Australian soldiers:

1990 or 2017?
I've been wanting to re-watch the original for a long time. Haven't seen the new one.

The new version but I love both. The earlier one being based more in a fantasy and the new one is based and grounded a lot more in real science. Constantly constantly there are more and more advance and I think they did a really good job keeping this movie true to the original but actually having the balls to change things as we know now more than we ever have and the second movie is almost 20 years & of medical knowledge & breakthroughs in scientific communities and all that's been learned since the first one so it's based much more in reality so they each have their own uniqueness but I'm fairly young being 34 and I didn't know about it for a very long time but I watched it a few years ago. The original that is.. and I immediately thought to myself, I know they're going to remake this and I wonder when. I'm sure they might have been making the movie as I thought that or had just made it why haven't they made a remake of this? Well it didn't take long for Hollywood to think what I was thinking. It's kind of apples and oranges since the first one is way more stylized & fantasy based and the second one is based much more reality based and therefore it has its own way of scaring you which I wouldn't say is its main purpose It's Entertainment and it's the thought of probably the most sought after thing in history and that's immortality or just find out what happens to us when we die so they're almost two separate movies but I don't want to really have a favorite of the two because they're so unique in each way.

Well since you haven't seen the first one obviously for my comments you know they've changed a lot but it is actually a pretty good movie to watch. I definitely think they could have done better but with what they had and the actors who obviously Kiefer Sutherland as a cameo as a doctor teaching medicine at the hospital and there's only one of the actor recognize but a largely unknown cast and I think they all did a very good job. They had a very limited budget and CGI is insanely expensive so with what they had and what they did I think is pretty awesome. You should definitely watch The remake

That's precisely what I love about it. It's really a family drama/tragedy.

> SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER..
Obviously I have seen this and my take on it is that this has been an ongoing ritual with the family for who-knows-how-long and they are trying to resurrect one of the 8 or the 8th prince of Hell "Palimon" it is said that when being offered a body to possess.. He reacts much more favorably if given a male body than if a female body is given. That is why Charlie is killed since she was originally the chosen one but turned out to be a female she was sacrificed in a way to make room for a brother to take over. OF COURSE the brother in the end is the one offered up by this strange family ritual. It truly is a horrific movie and tragic family story very well written executed and not easy to watch sometimes but it's worth it

Watched the original Halloween. I've never seen this before. I saw H20 and the Rob Zombie ones, but never Carpenter's original. It really was an impressive debut from a then-inexperienced director, and it's no surprise it birthed the slasher genre of the 80s. I enjoyed Rob Zombie's remake (the second one was crap), but he missed a big part of what made the original so special: sometimes less is more.
