I've never bought into the non-love shown Keanu Reeves. To me, however limited or wide his acting is, it's been appropriate for the role.
.
Bill & Ted - spot on.
Devil's Advocate - nothing wrong there.
Speed - enjoyed it.
Matrix - it's what the part called for.
Anyway, my latest movie(s).............
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. It was fun. I enjoyed it. More than the previous two.
The first MI, I enjoyed until the end, and then it turned me off in a major unforgiving way. The second one was far too silly to invest in. This one, despite my anti-MI bias coming in, gave me a good show. It wasn't as "serious" as a Bourne escapade. It was more like a Roger Moore Bond film, if Mr. Moore had any real machismo coming into the role. Good plot turns, don't think about some of them too much, and good casting. No, really good casting.
(Bias confession: At one part toward the end of the movie, I'm watching the Cruise character and thinking, He's so good-looking, so athletic, and he so obviously commits to the role. So sad that he's so damaged.)
And.....
The Caine Mutiny. Perhaps Bogard's best role. Forget the tough guy. He's damaged and does it very well. The whole movie is great with the suspense in both plot development and character exposition.
