I haven't read it yet, but I will be. I just started reading Joe Hill in September, with Heart Shaped Box, now reading Horns. I'm very much looking forward to getting my copy of NOS4A2 to start reading it.
  6. I thought NOS4A2 was the most imaginative
    novel I've ever read.

Just started re reading it myself. Amazing story. While the apple may not have fallen far, it's definitely his own tree.

I loved this book and Heart Shaped Box. He really is a great writer, horror like SK but totally unique. I like his graphic novels as well...Locke and Key is awesome!

I thought it was Joe's best book so far.
Heart Shaped Box and Horns were both great too, but this had the edge for me.
    Great story :)

Joe's work is great, I would say that N0S4R2 is my favourite, followed by Horns and then HSB.

Joe Hill hasn't written a bad novel (or short story) yet. I think my favorite is actually 20th Century Ghosts but NOS4A2 is a close second.

I'd never heard of this writer or these books. Thanks all. This is one of the reasons I joined this board. I'll be checking these out.

I haven't read any other Joe Hill books but I did read NOS4A2 (from the library) - it was very good!

On another forum I visit, a lot of the folks on there seemed to think Heart Shaped Box was his best book, but I would disagree.
For me, NOS4A2 is a much better story :)

I can probably get HSB from the library - I just liked the fantasy elements and the covered bridge parts of NOS4A2 - is Heart Shaped Book similar?

The above link is a good review - interesting - thanks for mentioning this other book! :cheerful:

Heart Shaped Box was more of an out and out ghost story.
There is a little more to it than that, but it didn't have the fantasy aspect of NOS4A2.
Also the "this is the good guy/bad guy dynamic" was a bit too simple (in comparison to NOS4A2) in my opinion.

That said, I still enjoyed it and would say it is definitely worth a read if you can find it :)
