My 8th-graders asked me to please play Prince songs in class this morning. So very sweet.

They'll all over the place, articles about "Prince's many loves," "Prince's private life," and "Prince's addictions." I can't even look.
As far as the addiction rumors go, I remain unconvinced. He wouldn't even put chemicals in his hair anymore because of his religion, which forbids foreign substances in the body - including blood transfusions. I don't know if I buy him putting chemicals in his body.

As to the rest...it's times like these that I really hate the media. Who cares how many lovers he had? Who cares if he had addiction problems? It surely doesn't matter whether he banged the whole world or lived a life of monk-like celibacy, just as it doesn't matter whether he was a total straight-edger or he went and snorted the entire national product of Colombia up his nose. Yet to hear or see the media types, it's all "We don't know anything for sure, so we'll just conjecture and say any old BS 'cos, y'know, what's he gonna do?"
No respect, no class, no consideration for family, friends or fans.

...I am usually pretty soft-hearted, but I don't believe I've ever truly wept at that many celebrity passings...I am saddened and feel a sense of loss, but not to the point of tears-is that weird?....

....CBS led off it's evening newscast with his death last night and also concluded it with a tribute...I thought it was very classy and no muckraking was involved....

I can't stop crying. I didn't go in to work today. This is too much. He's been a part of my life for over 30 years and now he's gone. I got to see Sheila E. interviewed today. She's in Minneapolis. She looks like she is in shock, just stunned. I never knew that she and Prince had been engaged at one time and I thought I knew everything about His Royal Bad*ass.
...if I understood that whole deal-wasn't that just a stunt?.....they played it that way in public, though Sheila was actually married to someone else?.....or was that another of his harem?....
Today they asked her about it and she said that Prince actually proposed to her right on stage at a show and she said 'Yes!' but they obviously never did marry. That's a shame because out of all the women he was romantically involved with I would have picked her to be his life partner- they were both musicians and knew what that life would entail. She was a very good influence for him- he spent lots of time with her and her family in California back then and he was happy. She also stated today that she recorded 'hundreds' of songs with him, which are in the Vault.
