Having a hard time getting into Swan Song--the references are so very dated that I keep getting distracted. I'll plug along for a couple more chapters to see if I can connect with it.
I started this one too a couple of years ago and had the same problem you are experiencing.
I'll give it a go someday...

Now I want to re-read They Thirst again....good thing I have the book. Rick thought this book was not good enough. I could slap him upside the head for saying that! What were you thinking, man?????????????

Sweet!

But out of country shipping kills these kind of announcements for me. :a17:

USPS shipping prices went up astronomically last year. In 2013, I sent a book to a friend in Canada for about $13. In early 2014, I sent the same size book to the same friend, and it cost me about $32 to ship it the exact same way. It's crazy now.

About 250 pages into They Thirst. My first McCammon. It definitely seems i will be reading more of this author. While i wouldn't go so far as to say the best vampire story it is very good so far. The only one i think is better is Salem's Lot. But that might change when i'm done. For those that like vampirestories. Another really good one is Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist (filmed as Let me in).

They Thirst was good. Not as good as Salems Lot and i think he kind of overdid the ending but it was a good read. It sure gave you an itch to read more of him. So I have started Wolf's Hour. Just about 50 pages in but looks very promising. A good werewolf novel is a rare thing. King has never written one, the closest is Cycle of the werewolf which is not a novel. So i'm hoping this one is good.

I must confess my complete ignorance to McCammon and his work.
Only through several different forums (this one included) and Facebook group recommendations did I recently hear about him.
I have long regarded The Stand as my favourite book of all time, so the comparisons and honorable mentions that Swan Song keeps getting (in many discussions) has piqued my interest. After a spot of googling, I was a little flabbergasted at the price of some of the paperback copies of Swan Song. After some careful eBay scouring, however, I have this beauty heading my way :

I am close to finishing Lisey's Story, so hopefully this will arrive just in time to be next on my reading list :)
Also picked up a paperback copy of Baal today too, I love discovering new authors!

Soooo I am nearly 600 pages into this beast of a book and I have to say I am loving it.
I have been working an awful lot of hours lately so not really had a proper chance to sit and just read properly, but slowly making my way through it.
I wasn't too keen on the 7 year jump in the middle, but once McCammon had quickly whipped round the characters and told me where they were at, I soon forgot about the disappointed feeling I had!
