It might be a case of broadening the topic a little bit. After all it's called 'On Writing' not 'On Publishing'. But even without those aspects, a new version of the book could cover:
- Online research: The tools that are available to writers looking into various topics that they might be writing about (historical, scientific, occult, etc.)
- Opinion gathering: In cases where you might want to bounce an idea off of someone, the various collaboration and straw poll methods that can be used.
- Writing tools: Advanced writing tools that will help you save revisions of your work, track occurrences of words and themes, allow for collaboration, etc.
- Finding an agent: Social media, pitch contests, query structures, common agency and publishing scams, typical royalty percentages in modern contracts, etc.
- Self publishing: Exclusivity, E-book or paper or both, typical royalty percentages for physical and e-books when self publishing, resources, advertising, etc.
- Time management: How much time to dedicate to online promotion VS traditional bookstore and convention, time management for self publishers, etc.
I'd love to see a modernization of 'On Writing'. It would make me giddy.
