Cute pics!Yes ma'am, it does! I hope I can make it. Usually, I get one trip a year, and I spend that on grandkids. Last summer, it was the grandsons.
This year, it was this precious girl.
Next summer, who knows?

Nope, western Kentucky.Inservice/Professional development starts August 17th. The kids are back on the 24th. Do you live up north?

Exactly the same here. The last two years we got soooooooooo many snow days, and it's a problem. The board has learned to build in days into the calendar so that we can kind of make up some as we go. We have used holidays and election day to make up time also. I really wish they'd get rid of Fall Break and Spring Break. That would add two weeks to summer holiday. Those two weeks (like Christmas, but I know that has to stay) just break up the kids' learning and they barely remember who I am, much less what we were learning, before they left. How many snow days do you typically get? Because it's the snow days that screw us over. And, in Maryland, we get just enough snow for it to be a problem and not enough snow for people to learn what to do with it.

It seems like one long vacation from Halloween through New Years--I know that as a parent, I have always had a difficult time keeping the kids focussed during that time. I don't know how you teachers stand it.Exactly the same here. The last two years we got soooooooooo many snow days, and it's a problem. I know; breaks from anything can be good, but when it comes to learning, frequent and/or long breaks just make it that much harder to retain what was taught before. It seems like one long vacation from Halloween through New Years--I know that as a parent, I have always had a difficult time keeping the kids focussed during that time. This perfectly sums up my feelings about these breaks!Especially math and science. It seems like the first two months of school and the month after Christmas are just endless rounds of "remember what you used to know once before the huge freaking break when you lost your mind?"
I love this....Just because it made me laugh:

Beddie time--night, all
Yea I am Facebook. With my art page, I cannot close my account. I am glad I have not closed it yet.I'm REALLY not liking this board shut down on the weekends (though I don't begrudge the mods their time off at ALL). Sat/Sun, esp. evenings, are my best time to chat. Wonder if those so inclined (and who are on FB) would be interested in a closed FB group, just for chatting on weekends?

I've never even been on FB. Could I make up an account?
It's not difficult to register. I was a hold out or a long time, but then I had to have social media accounts (per my contract) and ended up making a personal account to keep up with family. Before that, they all followed my husband, and more of them still follow him than follow me--lol. He's the more social of the two of us
So I could have a fake name and still chat in your group, etc?
You can try. I had a pseudonym that FB finally caught up with and made me change to my real name. It didn't sound like a real name, though (Honestly Autumn). Now I'm bare-faced and real-named--lol. Same avi as here, though. hipmamajen and I follow each other, and she's one of my favorite people on there--just as funny as here, but with more pictures (lol).
