Yes ma'am, it does! I hope I can make it. Usually, I get one trip a year, and I spend that on grandkids. Last summer, it was the grandsons.

This year, it was this precious girl.

Next summer, who knows?
Cute pics!

How many snow days do you typically get? Because it's the snow days that screw us over. And, in Maryland, we get just enough snow for it to be a problem and not enough snow for people to learn what to do with it.
Exactly the same here. The last two years we got soooooooooo many snow days, and it's a problem. The board has learned to build in days into the calendar so that we can kind of make up some as we go. We have used holidays and election day to make up time also. I really wish they'd get rid of Fall Break and Spring Break. That would add two weeks to summer holiday. Those two weeks (like Christmas, but I know that has to stay) just break up the kids' learning and they barely remember who I am, much less what we were learning, before they left.

We only get three days for Thanksgiving, but Spring Break is more than a week long. But the board won't touch it because the absentee rate was so high when we cut into Spring Break years ago. I teach in a fairly affluent county, and the parents scream blue murder when we even mention making up snow days during Spring Break.

It seems like one long vacation from Halloween through New Years--I know that as a parent, I have always had a difficult time keeping the kids focussed during that time. I don't know how you teachers stand it.

I know; breaks from anything can be good, but when it comes to learning, frequent and/or long breaks just make it that much harder to retain what was taught before.

I'm REALLY not liking this board shut down on the weekends (though I don't begrudge the mods their time off at ALL). Sat/Sun, esp. evenings, are my best time to chat. Wonder if those so inclined (and who are on FB) would be interested in a closed FB group, just for chatting on weekends?
Yea I am Facebook. With my art page, I cannot close my account. I am glad I have not closed it yet.
It has helped me be reunited with some family.
A group wouldn't be a bad idea.

So, back to looking for work because I got too frustrated last Friday.
Not that I am special needs. I just like clear instructions on what I am to do for my work hours. Tell me, show me and let me be unless I need corrections.
Need to work on communications with employer. Something I always struggled with and time for a change.
I have been painting drums again this week. Sold a painting that will on greeting cards soon.
Lot of ups and downs but life is awesome.

I'd be up for it.

I've never even been on FB. Could I make up an account?

Yup.

It's not difficult to register. I was a hold out or a long time, but then I had to have social media accounts (per my contract) and ended up making a personal account to keep up with family. Before that, they all followed my husband, and more of them still follow him than follow me--lol. He's the more social of the two of us :p

You can have a profile and not accept friends. You don't even have to reject them. Just ignore the friend requests.

So I could have a fake name and still chat in your group, etc?

Yup.

You can try. I had a pseudonym that FB finally caught up with and made me change to my real name. It didn't sound like a real name, though (Honestly Autumn). Now I'm bare-faced and real-named--lol. Same avi as here, though. hipmamajen and I follow each other, and she's one of my favorite people on there--just as funny as here, but with more pictures (lol).

I have two accounts, one with my real name that I use for professional networking and keeping up with family. The other is a front for my blog and stories ("Talus A. Story" - cute, hey?). You can have a fake name. In fact, some of my friends do who are worried about privacy.
