Does everyone eat black eyed peas and collard greens on New Year's Day or is this just a Southern thing? I've order pizza for lunch, because I am not cooking twice on a holiday. But I have to start the peas soon. Last night was great. I didn't want to go out, but ending up having fun in spite of myself. Ya'll have a good day! Jojo, hope Jane gets better fast! I almost named out youngest Jane (Janey actually, Janey Elise, but the husband didn't want to).
My mom always had us eat black eyed peas for luck.

Oh, come on over then! I make them with sautéed onions, rotel tomatoes and sausage - cornbread with tons of butter - 1 stick of butter per person. Here ya go

I'll be right over.

Well Tet-mates I am not sure if I should log off.

Hubby just walked by with his cup of tea. He is watching British comedy on-line in the dining room on his lap top.

He keeps giving me these beseeching looks. He had asked previously "What's for dinner?" I guess he must be blind, as there are beans in a pot on the stove, some cream of tomato soup (in another pot on the stove), some fried baby potatoes also sitting on top of the stove, plus a huge pile of turkey meat from two days ago that we kept cold and just reheated today.

I mean - this guy is a chef! Doesn't he know how to put a plate of leftovers together? Am I his Mommy? Now I do love my husband but really... I just do not get it!

I may be remembering it wrong, but are there some parts of the country where they do a thing with play money in spinach dip for luck with money in the new year?
Ew, money in the spinach dip? I wouldn't be happy about that. Looking forward to Mardi Gras and King Cakes, except that means Lent is nigh.

LOL - he wants you to make like Wilma Flinstone and fix him up a plate. That's how we roll around here. I was such a doting young bride that I ruined my man for life 23 years ago. Or does he mean "what's that mess on the stove, woman?"

He understands the food, I'm sure. He wants your company.

Okay - guess you are both right! I'll fix up two plates and go join him. But he better turn that silly comedy show off (I think it is called "The Two Ronnies")

Good Thursday everyone!!
Hope all is feeling well. I am tired, stayed up too late to watch Under the Dome. Jane is doing better, she hasn't vomit since yesterday. Thank
for the healing vibes my dog got. I think it was from the chocolate she ate. But hopefully she is better now. At least she got energy back.

Take care and be well. Stay safe. Neesy have fun time with your hubby. :)

So.... how'd it go?
:dunno:

Hi All!
It went okay I guess. But next time I will actually prepare a real meal rather than leftovers. I think all the stores were pretty much shut up tight on New Year's day and I had not planned ahead.

I think I will stay away from those sssslithering sssserpents Buckwheat and Pyro - I don't mind snakes but still.... don't want to get TOO close!

Jojo - glad your poor doggy feels better. Holly - the Two Ronnies is some ancient British show that Andy loves - he was taking a trip down memory lane. King Rice Fan - I do like that show Absolutely Fabulous - it's funny to see but it hasn't been on in a while (at least around here).

I should plan something creative today. Maybe I will try my hand at a few more of those fizzy bath bombs. I gave some away at Christmas and got good reviews so far.

Happy Thursday everyone. I hope your day goes well, wherever you are and whatever you are doing! Love and green lights :love_heart:

Good morning all! It's back to work for me today (been off since Friday and it was wonderful) so now I'm tired and cranky and cold, but working! ha

@HollyGolightly - I ate my peas yesterday but I can't do the greens. Never learned to like them.
My folks used to really make fun of me when I was a teen, because I was so concerned about the good luck that I would try to count out my peas to make sure I ate enough. I would sit there for an hour counting black-eyed peas! ;)

Guess I'll get another cup of coffee and start working on Month End reports! Hope you all have a great day!

I too eat peas but never had counted them. Never heard of the Good luck thing-ie. Guess I am behind the times.
